Watched “The Skeleton Twins” last night with zero expectations and was really impressed.
I’ve always really seen Bill Hader as just a bit part actor but he’s superb in this.
Trying to not get my hopes up too high!
also in the hopes to to high but looking forward to it
The opening scene with the speeder going past the crashed star destroyer looked amazing.
And yea, the new Mad Max trailer with the clips from the original looks badass.

Would watch.
The reviews coming in for Mad Max are ridiculous.
“Best action film of the last 10 years”
It something like a 99% approval rating on rotten tomatoes.
I don’t think I’ve been this excited for a film since Dredd or Inception.
May have to blow off tight arse Tuesday and go and see this tonight.
I watched Boyhood last weekend. Shit, for a movie that goes for three hours and was filmed over however many years, the story sure is dull. I was waiting for something to happen the whole time.
loved that film
We read a book for holiday book club that was completely dull and nothing happened. It was shit. Boyhood is similar, but I really liked it. I think it depends on the experiences you bring to it eh.
It won lots of awards so I’m aware I must be missing something.
I saw it last night, pretty great. LOTS of action.
The design and attention to detail to things that are on camera for a second are amazing pushing LOTR for that, but thankfully unlike LOTR there is minimal CGI stuff, most is done with real cars and the things that are CGI are very well done.
Saw Mad Max last night, and yep, the production design is off the charts.
Here’s a pretty good interview with the guy behind the 150-or-so cars that they built:

Watched the original Mad Max the previous night, just to get into the vibe, and it’s great spotting the little things they’ve taken and run with in making the new movie. E.g. there’s one split-second scene in the original where a dude pole-vaults onto the back of a petrol tanker with a long stick. Take that and multiply it fifty-fold, add some flamethrowers…
We went to see Kumiko the treasure hunter last night. Interesting, but fairly disappointing in the end. Something was missing.
Boyhood did it for me though.
Just watched Whiplash. Great movie.
Went to see It Follows on Fri night. Highly rate it. Great premise. Well made, simple, perfectly structured. In the mould of a classic 1980s teen horror.
i saw that too! was so strange, but really enjoyed it.
Pan’s Labyrinth on sbs2 this evening if anyone’s not seen it.
Watched a film called “Escape from Tomorrow”.
Fairly standard psychological horror, worth it as the entire thing was shot at Disneyland with no knowledge from Disney whatsoever.
Reading how they planned/scouted/filmed the whole thing is actually more interesting than the actual film.
Weird Science on SBS2 tonight.
Bill Paxton is hilarious.
In bed sick, watched the doco Clean Spirit, which follows the Argos-Shimano tean during the 2013 Tour de France. Quite interesting. It’s up on Netflix.
