First week riding fixed gear.

got it from the cetma website, took 3 months to get here (2 months of emails asking where it is) but totally worth it.

I would wager with the dollar the way it is you’re better off trying to get one from the current stock Cheeky Monkey have, or make your own out of aluminium angle section (sometime soon hey?)

I run 40 / 16 on my bike with no brakes, 48 / 15 or 44 / 15 on my bike with a front brake.

47X17/18 on one bike, 48X17 on the other. both brakeless.

Definately. Just say when.

From Brisvegas, i’m riding a 45 - 16, with a brake.
Gets me around, but I probably need a 17.

You ride Brissy with that heavy a gear? You must have monster legs!

I ride a 48 - 20 here in Melb and going to a light gear is the best thing I ever did. .

. . ok, probably not the best thing I ever did but you get the idea.

Let’s see, 45x16 = 73.9 inches. A 17 would take it down to 69.6 in. I get around on a 42x16 = 69.0 and I’m not too flash on hills - a real struggle up Duttonberg on that gear, but otherwise it works well for Brisbane. Not only do you have to go up some grunting hills, but you have to spin down them too, so you don’t want the gear too short.

Fair enogh. Anything below 70 is good for the street. I just remember Brissy to be up and down hills everywhere.

I wouldnt say I have “monster legs” but they’re not small either… I used to ride a 39x16, and that was too easy up the hills, and too hard down the hills, It took so much to control my leg speed. Duttonberg? Is that in Brissie?
