Frame size question

Hi,

I am new to fixed bike, and looking to buy a bianchi pista.

I am 172cm tall so not sure 51cm or 53cm frame will suit me better? any suggestion please?

Thanks

Best way is to go to the shop that you plan to buy the bike from and try a few. Any bike shop worth its salt will stick you on a trainer and size you up properly anyway. There a bunch of factors other than height that influence frame size. So it pays to get some advice.

Otherwise there are a few web-based frame size calculators out there. Google “bike fit” there is a whole world of literature available. But the bike shop will be far more accurate.

Also, do you ride a bike at the moment? If so, what size is it? If not, then consider whether a fixie is a good move for your first bike. They can take a bit of mastering if you don’t have a bit of riding experience. Not trying to put you off, but you might enjoy a freewheel single speed more if you feel a bit more comfortable on it.

Hi Rohan, Thanks for your help. I had a bianchi c2c alu road bike 53cm with 90mm stem and the seat moved forward alot. then it just fit me fine. So I am thinking will the bianchi pista 52 or 51cm will suit me better? Thanks

If you want to get precise then best to ask your LBS. Its impossible to know from a post like this. Perhaps someone else out there could give some advice on how the size of your road bike and track bike should compare. i.e. should they be the same? Should the track bike be a bit smaller?
