I always struggle with this expression. It’s correct in historical context, and in the vernacular it derives from but if I were to write it I’d be umming and ahhing at whether to replace exact with enact. I’d ask Mrs. Spirito as she’s educated and from a posh school but she’s busy marking right now and I’ll onl get that “stupid wog, don’t you know anything” look from her … so I’ll just pontificate here.
I do like the term. Sounds cool. Add in some terms like “wars fought, uprisings quelled, dragon’s slayed” and the word “smite” and I’m there !!!
