Hey guys im helping a friend get a new (old) bike. she said she wants “like a cool vintage-y one”. so i told her singlespeeds are probably the easiest bikes to customize and whatever, since you can strip and reassemble them to repaint etc. easier than having to deal with cables and stuff.
so anyone know any sites with restored/converted girly bikes for inspiration? like the step-through type. hipster girl bikes?
They are pretty much exactly the same as ‘boys’ bikes you know. You could look at any vintage conversion and imagine what you are going to get out of your own project.
The seller Sydney Vintage Bikes on eBay has a bunch of “retro” ladies step-throughs for sale all the time.
Also, if you want, I have an old Ricardo ladies three speed step through. Needs a little bit of work, but would make a nice single speed. maroon in colour with yellow decals.
10 bucks, pick-up only.
Or make it a fixed like I did for my girlfriends first bike (the one on the left)…
Yeh i know, i was just wondering if anyone knew of any sites with emphasis step-through conversions. copenhagenchic was in the right direction.
Yeh i saw Sydney Vintage Bikes last night, thats what shes after, except a bit crapper cos she only wants to spend around $150 (200max after getting new tubes/tyres/grips/whatever). See the ricardo sounds awesome, id pretty much want to do the same as what you did except not fixed. If only i was back in adelaide sooner…
There’s a maroon ricardo for sale on the bay near me for $45 but it requires slightly too much work otherwise it’d be perfect
I also just thought it would be cool to see a bunch of lady-frame conversions for interest
