What he said.
At this stage I might be out: I’ve had some sort of gastro thing the last couple of days and can’t keep anything in my stomach. Not fun.
It’s hard to say how the weather will develop until the day. Wait and see. A little bit of rain never hurt anyone.
Regarding the pace: Little Miss Sunshine Movie Clips & Scenes - No One Gets Left Behind!
Yeah I’m debating whether to do this singlespeed or fixed. I will be running a front brake as a minimum though. Both the Scarbs and the Brewery are great. Can stop at both!
Oh, and I will NOT be wearing lycra, and will be casting a disapproving eye on those who do!
if the weather is not crap i think we have marcus, terence and stephan on team too
nath i recommend the single as it’ll be more fun on the fast down hill stuff and better able to stay with the road bikes on the flats in the line…
i’ll be rocking my rapha getup! haha
Annoyingly I think I’ve fucked my knee riding home from work yesterday. I’m off the bike for a few days, loading up on pain-killers and will see what it looks like on the day. Finger’s crossed.
Again?!? Stop going to that dodgy Chinese place!
Fark! That’s no good. Hope it’s not serious. Don’t stretch it if it’s muscular. Might feel good, but it can do more damage.
Edit: @jetbike, not heavymetal’s dodgy guts
Thanks, had similar prob with left knee a few years ago. Hoping it’s the same deal, co that was easy to fix. I’m deperate to ride, it’ll be epic.
nothing to do with it this time… i really don’t know where this came from. have managed to get some dry crackers to stick in my guts, if I come good and can ride to work friday then I might be in on Saturday.
not much inner jens in this group this week…
I reckon if jetbike turns up with a bung knee and heavy turns up and throws up… (or is it throws down?) Jens would be proud of the effort. Same as if people turn up despite the inclement weather.
If you’re trying to provoke me into riding out of a misguided sense of machismo, it might work.
I’ll do this ride by myself if I have to.
all hail the mighty jens!!!
RULE 9:
If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
i just took the coppi for a test ride in the rain… pretty bad arsed ( or silly )
got new fork and a few other goodies! got a super nice set of ec90 aero bars but a stem issue is keeping them side lined for now!
You cats are in for some fun. I won’t be joining as I’d need to set off 3 hours earlier to not get dropped but I will advise you to take care through the National Park, especially in the twisty bits before Stanwell Tops as a lot of crazy motorists … wannabe Schumacher’s and up and coming Rossi’s scream through there for an early morning blast. That section is quite twisty, has narrow or non-existent shoulders and I’d advise to ride single file. Luckily the tree’s and green canopy make for little wind and you’ll generally hear traffic if they’re moving up behind you fast.
Shame there’s nobody organizing a SAg wagon … tricky as the ride is split by water/ferry. I’d make sure you carry spares and ride bikes that are in top condition, otherwise it’ll be a long walk. Ask me how I know?? From Stanwell Park onwards to the 'Gong is the best part of the ride
Look forward to reading about how you all go. And maybe I’ll organize a Rivendell type, bearded professor and SPD sandal fest for the following weekend with lots of pastry stops !!!
I’ve done this ride about five times on my own, back in the days of working every weekend. It’s absolutely amazing, best day’s ride I know of.
Motorists are a pain in the arse in RNP. There’s a big contingent of people raoring past in V8’s, we may hear the dulcet tones of ‘get a car poofter’.
Be-sandaled, Bearded and Brooks’d ride sounds like fun too. I’ll get the LHT out and we’ll take in the ambiance, we can read the Rivendell Reader on the ferry.
Sh*t yeah! This ride is happening.
Hope the knees and the guts are good hey.
