I like Bio-Mechanics too becox it is near to my home…
Wt do u mean they’re fucked in Super Elliotts?
They’re not very good with the customer service.
The staff in supers can be complete duds and will have no beef trying to sell you the wrong thing purely cause they don’t know better. Biomechanics is good for mechanics and brooks. Everything else is expensive. Although there’s nowhere else to get surly/salsa.
Bicycle Express is a real bike shop with a huge range and they’re good guys.
North Adelaide is the place to go for fixed. Stocks track hubs, mks clips and toshi straps, sugino cranksets, coloured velocitys, programmable spoke lights etc. Plus the owner built wheels for Avanti for years.
Nuff said.
Soyos are the best grips I’ve ever used.
don’t try em without gloves!
Did it today hey. Still awesome. Although I have pretty thick calluses.
Well had a sort of bad experience with North Adelaide Cycles recently.
Came very close to having a bitumen lunch after my cog slipped drastically on a wheel very recently built by them. I spose I should have checked it my self I would like to think something like that would be relatively straghtforward
thats strange bcoz certain they’re known for good wheel builds.
I know, I get all my work done there. Must have just slipped by
we all have a bad day i guess but still…
i can report no problems they fitted my quill stem and cranks on my bike and everythings been perfect!
Yeah, I’ve had a hit and miss(wheel build) experience with them too.
Hours are a sporadic as well, with the shop inexplicably shut at random times.
Who’s building the wheels? Not to suggest that the employees can’t build wheels, just that Kym has apparently built wheels for like 15 years or something.
Something like a loose cog is such a simple mistake. Has there been any problems with actual builds?
P.S. DIY.
just wondering whether trak is any good for parts/service with fixed gear?
clearly a lot of shops are jumping on the wagon… as far as im concerned kym at north adelaide did an excellent job putting together mine and will always get my business when it comes to my fixed!
Bio-mechanics do me no wrong.
You should be checking your cog/lock ring on a regular basis despite how long ago your wheels were built.
Anyone on here have much to do with international cycles??? I dropped off my eight inch rim there today to get laced up, had to order the hub in, dunno when it’ll be here or when it’ll be ready. Waiting game
Pete at International is a true champion. I dont think he has much time for fixie/track types, but ive had 3 sets of old road wheels retrued and redished to give PERFECT chainline on some cheapo conversions i was doing. He’ll take you a week or so to do the retrue (again, i think he gives priority to the lycra-clad) but inlcuding some parts hes reasonably cheap and does a great job. Couldnt reccomend him higher
Yea kinda got the idea he didn’t have much time for fixies but he said he will try and do it for Wednesday or Thursday depending when he can get the hub. Just hate waiting coz I can’t ride.
He has built up a few wheels for me with no trouble! He can take a week or two, but gets them perfect. He was quite surprised when I bought in a wheel with a front disc hub, hex keyed velo sprocket and asked him to dish it for the rear!

Cool! I like that idea allot. Did you have any problems getting chain line right and what did you do about changing the axle?
