Grease options for DT Swiss hubs?

Anyone here have experience servicing DT Swiss Hubs? What grease do you use on their ‘star ratchet’ free hub mechanism?

Just wondering if I can use a decent hub grease such as Finish Line Ceramic Grease instead?

thanks

Good advise here:

DT hubs - Special grease for star ratchets?

Sounds like thin grease or even lube.

I’ve had mine (240s) for 3.5 CX seasons and never had to touch them. They get checked regularly as well… Are you sure they need regreasing?

Watevs is fine. Thinner a bit better.

Used for a about 5000kms, maybe 500 of that in the wet. Starting to get loud. Just wondering if I should use a thinnish white grease or Chris King Ring Drive Lube instead?

Have you pulled them apart and had a look?

My CK’s sounded ok but when i pulled them apart they were dirty and a little dry, I think dirt is as big an issue as lube.

If you were still in Melbs you could have used some of my ring drive lube…

FWIW I have used a grease/lube mix on a Mavic hub before and it seemed fine - although the owner then complained it was too quiet.

I pulled my tune hubs down after about 2500km of wet summer riding,
The lube inside was shot, water and grime had got in.
Cleaned it all and re greased with thin white tf2 lithium grease.
The grease does quite n them down a little but they were insanely loude before and now just loud.

Oh and I’m not sure that’s what I should have used, it was a toss up of that or wet lube.

Thanks for the offer Mike. Yeah nah - back home now. This is the view out the back window of where I’m holed up - pretty mental.

Also that customer of yours complaining about a hub being too quiet … jezzz. I love a quiet freehub for my Gravel Grinder.

My bike hasn’t arrived yet but when I cleaned it just before leaving I knew it’d need at the very least an a new BB and some freehub attention. I’ve bought myself some CK Ring Drive - $15 rather than $35 for DT Grease - so will give that a shot. I’ll just keep in mind that as its thinner I’ll have to keep a regular eye on it.

thanks guys.

^ Tough life huh.

and aren’t the smaller coins nice?

Yup its pretty tough - no doubt

I’ve been trying to find some good roads for some GGin’ but its proving not as simple as I had thought. The only ‘road’ through those ranges looks like this:

I dont see the issue?
