After building up the GT Force SS and realising how sweet it was to ride I began a quest to source a 56cm GT triple tri and build my own. Jolan posted the LFGSS headsup, jase beat me to it but it was too big for him, and so I met up with the seller last week to collect it.
I’m guessing it’s an earlier Edge as the Force is heavier, has rack/guard mounts and a pierced TT at the ST, this one has semi horizontal dropouts, curved chainstays, a brazed on GT badge at the ST. Sadly it’s not one of the sweet fillet brazed ones.
A few teething problems (broken rear axle, stuck half of the axle, drive side of course, rounded off nipples) put paid to redishing the rear wheel, so today’s Bikefest swap meet was a boon, yielding a HF Suntour Sprint / Open 4CD wheelset, Ourys, SR Royal stem, Euskatel SPD-SLs, Velocage, DA chain…
Dug some Super Mightys out of the parts bin, sushi bars from Abbotsford, scored a WI Trials on ebay and then Project Matchy Match was complete:
