Gumwall Tires

no punctures in ~1000~2000ks commuting, touring, gravel grinding, riding around with a rack full of beer, etc. for my nomads.
I think the lower pressure and wider contact patch mean less force pushing pointy things into the tyre. I’ve had heaps less punctures since i moved towards fatter tyres*

*SS steve and snowflake will not have noticed as i insist on riding narrow tyres for Saturday rides :stuck_out_tongue:

I like em from the short time I’ve spent on them across all types of road surfaces (zero flats). Although a couple of people I’ve spoken to have noted numerous punctures on them, unless I’m mistaken one was user iwearmoccos.

I’d still ride them with zero hesitation.

in the short time i’ve spent riding with moccos* i can safely say he is cursed and should carry 6 spare tubes and a spare tyre at all times :stuck_out_tongue:

*cupday ride 2012?

anyone know of any cheapish 26" gumwalls? not knobbly. re-doing my dads old madison goanna

Resist nomads.

Maxxis DTH 26" available easily, cheap and good.

^— this. From Pushys if you can’t find locally. Can fit them up and put up pics if you want.

look good but cant find anywhere

perfecto cheers

Anyone got a line on 35mm tan resist nomads or are they gone for good?

cheap from universal cycles, but shipping is pricy, best find a few more items or go halvies with someone else who also wants nomads.

Thread dig.

Do the Grand Bois Col De La Madeleines come recommended?

Anything else worth looking into that has good durability?

I’ve had the Gran Bois 28mm. Thin and supple casing makes for a very nice ride but not durable.

My CdM measured about 21mm. I’d avoid them. How about spez turbo cotton? They have great great great user reports

I’ve got some Cerf Blues you can try on for size if you like

Yes. Lovely fast and light tire. I’ve put about 5000 ks on mine and they are on their last stint, will switch them to a beater bike soon. Re durability, given the sort of tire that it is they are plenty durable I reckon. Not a tire for heavy duty winter commuting.
I pump them up to 75-80 psi and they don’t seem to pick up a lot of debris like glass/metal bits from car tires.

Adam does push tyres/bike parts harder than most!

The cdm are quite small, I dont even end up bringing them in. 26mm being a much more useful size if you can fit it.

I think I’ve got a set of cdm though that havent had much use that you can have good and cheap if you want to try them, say if you can’t fit anything larger.

Just measured them, my CdM are 26.5 at 85 psi on my Belgiums.

turbo cottons are excellent, i destroyed one in 700km though. durability is not a feature.

That’s quite a difference eh

They might have been 19. On a narrow rim
