And Campy would be licensing technology from Shimano and Sram and vice versa and Sram to Shimano and Shimano to Sram…it’s normal and certainly doesn’t change the fact that Campy’s electronic shifting had lots of problems.
11 speed is not going to make me a better climber. It will make 10 speed cheaper though, so that’s a bonus.
But disc brakes, really? I guess in the rain it makes sense, but who rides when it’s wet anyway.
In summary, I don’t care, and in this case I’m glad we are governed by the dickheads that are the UCI because they will never allow disc brakes on the pro-tour.

I really don’t care for electronic shifting, either way I’ll be sticking to cabled set up for a few more years yet…
11 speed is pretty good the 11-25 casstte dosen’t have any big Gaps and gives you one more bail out gear to keep you spinning along when your climbing.
At least campag now have a release date for e record… And people will buy it an d I’m pretty sure you’ll find it works pretty well. They won’t sell the numbers that shimano will but then they never have…

I pretty much agree with Rhys. I don’t think anybody needs more gears, or dick breaks, or any of this fancy shit. All this advancement in technology exists for the companies to sell more shit, it’s got nothing to do with what’s better, or will make you go faster. They don’t give a shit about that, they’re just businesses set up to provide maximum return to shareholders or company owners or whatever.
The upshot of all this arms race bullshit is that us plebs get slightly nicer looking, slightly better shifting, slightly lighter gear. I’d be more than happy with 105, and am more than happy with the entry level campy shit on my roadie. But when for $100 more you can have something that looks nicey-nice and has slightly better tech, then why not? I’ve got a budget, and I’ll buy whatever will fit in that budget, whether it’s sram, campy or shimano. When 13 speed and mind shifting is introduced to the pro peloton I might find myself with 11 speed and electric shifting, if I need to buy a new group. But I’m more than happy with 10, or the 9 on my commuter, or the 7 on my litage.
In a nutshell: cola wars.
