road rules state ‘approved helmet’ CA racing rules state ‘aust standards approved helmet’. any helmet you can buy online will be approved by at least one recognised body.

so honestly unless you are racing you dont need an aussie helmet

correct me if i am wrong (happy to be corrected) but i have never heard of any CTP or other insurance claim being declined because someone was wearing a non australian standards helmet

re police, ive seen an old boy ride past police wearing an ice cream container with a bit of elastic…

anyway, i go the lazer genesis (australian standards approved version!)

Wiggle now ship them (Catlike’s) to Australia… if you don’t care about the AUST Standards sticker.

i called them and they only do the kompact pro not the whisper-for the same reason as everybody else.

i just got the whisper from wiggle, and happy with the fit it comes down deep on my head, the giro sits too high-like the specialised helmets.

yep yep bern helmets from knog…some are not road certified though.
Protec are good 2. depends on budget

Got specialized prospero last week and it’s great… Don’t notice it when I’m riding. I’m told they’re made for round heads, but I’m sure mine’s pointy in parts…

Just bought a LAzer O2 this week - nice fit for my scone, rollsys system is a beaut thing. Nice pad arrangement too - no sweat dripping inside my glasses.

also much quieter than the Bell and Limar units I’ve had in recent years.

I like that about the prospero as well - no drips! It has MUCH better airflow than the dud adura foam block I’ve been wearing for years…

Bought my catlike at Riders choice in leederville. I think I’ve seen them at Elite Racing cycles too… but its been a while since I’ve been to a bike shop
