For fucks sake.
ONLY 25% of the school
fucken idiots.
My mate has a kid at that school and says the media has been really twisting the facts. She puts the outbreak down to misinformation around booster shots and poor timing of their last vaccination round at the school (kids were too old). She knows that there are a couple non-vax kids there but it’s supposedly a very small amount.
How can the kids be too old for the last vaccination round?
It was regarding grad 5/6’s being too old for scheduled Varicella vaccinations and the government offered makeup shots at a weird time.
tbh I’m not that invested in it, just providing a different point of view for the sake of it.
Ahh it’ll be linked to the freebies done through schools.
If I ever feel like having kids I’ll just look through stuff like this.
Then if I still feel like I’m missing out I’ll just buy a balance bike for myself and scoot around the street.
ixnay on the ondescentioncay there, chet.
Either way, it shows the dangers of non vax kids yeah?
Definitely, I don’t understand the movement at all .
I guess I just wanted to share another point of view which was that one of my friends suggested the primary contributing factor was actually improper medical treatment through the school not unvaccinated children and that the schools policy is the same as all other schools because that is currently the law (but in my opinion they should expand the new law coming in on the 1st of Jan to higher forms of schooling as well, however my opinion isn’t really worth that much and I don’t have children).
Revisiting this.
Holy shit, a colleague just asked me about vaccinations for some reason (maybe cos I’ve got kids) and started going on about being concerned about the link with autism etc. Apparently her husband has been watching youtube vids about it.
I gave her an ear full. Told her it was all bullshit, the whole autism/vaccination link has been roundly debunked. Said “you’re a researcher, go and do some research, and be massively sceptical of anyone who says vaccinations are bad.”
Fuck me, she’s a university educated research librarian, and she’s being swayed by crackpot youtubers. Ugh.
But won’t someone think of the children!!!
Seriously though, this site is great (despite the weird name) https://www.skepticalraptor.com/skepticalraptorblog.php/vaccine-search-engine/
how’d she react jono?
She was all “well, I just worry about it, because it causes autism bla bla bla”. Kinda feels like the argument has been had and won with her and her husband but I’ll give her that link and let her sort it out for herself.
It’s on Youtube if you’re interested.
Fucking Andrew Wakefield has a lot to answer for
Some friends of mine asked if a homeopathic vaccine was any good. FML.
yeah, was just curious, we’re doing a unit at uni that looks at how people end up with such strong beliefs & why they are so hard to sway when there’s a ton of facts to the contrary. concepts like framing & language & reinforced pathways in the brain resulting in opposing views just being completely ignored.
kinda fascinating (and terrifying).
