Got any links for these drop outs slipping?
I couldn’t see anything.

^have a read on Sheldon Brown.
They do look the ducks guts, and would only need one for the rear if it was truly an issue.
I was looking at one of these for the 29er as I have the Hope 9mm thru adapters for the hub.
Looks like DT Swiss may have dropped these now in favour of 15mm thru.
Qr’s with chain tensioners?
First I’ve heard of it. I have crappy old Shimano 105 in the same Viner dropouts as Horatio and never have had a problem. Maybe I’m too weak in my legs.
Hang on, all this speculation is for a bike he doesn’t have yet…
Who has a Salsa Casseroll? [Archive] - Bike Forums
Dissapointed in my Casserole… - Mtbr Forums
All this for a frame I am looking to purchase. A mate had a previous model as a single speed which is nutted as the completes were.
Both of the above links refer specifically to the Casseroll with S/S dropouts.
It also talks about people building custom setups, which I also plan to do.
Both my and my wife’s road bikes have vertical dropouts and therefore can’t comment on how the Campy wheelsets would ‘bite’ into the
horizontal dropouts.
I don’t believe it is a problem for all horizontal dropouts and I can only assume that there are thousands of bikes with Campy 1010 dropouts and similar that don’t have these problems.
Have them front and back on my MTB, mostly cos I chanced upon a cheap set of Fox F100s with QRs . They are indeed the ‘ducks guts’. Well worth the upgrade.
Funnily enough, On the new weight weenie XC bikes Specialized are making, they’re keeping with 5mm QRs but they’ve increasing the contact area between the fork and the hub, with the idea of creating better stiffness that way… hard to explain. God knows where axles will be in 5 years time.
If its not on the Internet it didn’t happen?
i did it on my cross check, rode 2000k’s without issue, then the first time i tried to ride across tram tracks in melbourne, pulled the rear and had to push it up onto the medium strip with the tram driver on the horn all the way, he had to stop at a light before he got to me but he was still plenty angry.
you can borrow the cross check and see how it goes, i still can’t ride yet. should be in soon hopefully, although may have to get it swapped if it is the wrong size (still not sure if the surly site is wrong or their sizes are just wak).
i’d argue (from experience) that the best solution is the old shimano/campy skewers. both my of my bassos have had this problem and in both cases old skewers fixed the issue immediately. the black basso was plagued by the problem at first (damn you DT Swiss basic skewers), and its sucks to put down a little power and come to a halt/jam your rear wheel.
my definition of best is cheap, simple and easily obtainable. all of which IMO are fulfilled with a set of old skewers. heck if you’d asked a week ago you could have had a set of DA/ultegra skewers mailed for $15ppd.
ask around and i’d bet you can get a set for cheeeeep. everyone has moved to lighter skewers since vertical dropouts became popular so there has to be piles of these sitting in parts boxes in shops/sheds.
or you could buy the skewers and build a bike around them…
