Nah man, try a vacum cleaner …or hair dryer

  1. buy a decent spoke key. should look like a funny round plastic circle with a flat side on it. should grip the nipple on all four edges … or something like that

  2. read all of the FAQs about wheel truing and come back and report your observations and experiences

(optional: rig your own ‘bush mechanic’ truing stand by leaving the wheel in the forks, and strapping an icy-pole stick to the frame in such a fashion that it can be adjusted like the bolts on a proper truing stand …)

Wheel truing is an art.

Personally, I haven’t yet mastered it, so I tend to give my wheels to my mechanic friend…

vacuum cleaner/hairdryer won’t work, it’s the dried coffee shorting out electrical connections. try rinsing it, and then tell me if it works so i can do it to mine, i have heard the dishwasher works, but it seems extreme to me.

well no… its a science.

Spot on. If you persist you’ll get it. You don’t need to be a magician.
Search YouTube for vids.

cheers guys

No, you don’t need to be a magician, but like I say there’s an art in doing it well…

Its good if you can have a crack at truing the wheel horizontally, but most people either over tighten or loosen one side to much meaning they are then left with an up and down in their wheel. So NO if you dont know how to do it dont do it, maybe get the mechanic to show you quickly while he’s doing it. You will end up needing to pay twice as much to fix the mistakes you made…
