Looks like part of the Convit 100 ride. very nice and picturesque. Lots of Sandstone.
Yeah the water is defiantly a bonus and cheers im looking forward to it.
Yeah the first section of the ride goes up the great north road where the convict 100 goes down, and I think the last section before st Albans is the finish.
Speaking of dirt rides, I’m doing this next weekend:
DungogChallenge.org.au
Anyone want to join?
Shame about the running bit!
(…and also congrats on 2nd in B Grade, you must be stoked!)
Yeah, cheers. It was another epic battle with Nat - somehow we always end up neck and neck.
The Dungog thing can be done in teams, btw, in case you know someone who can do the run legs.
they do.
Did you race in Terrey Hills?
Yep.
Sorry I didn’t give a heads-up to anyone on the forum - only realised the race was on that morning and at the time still didn’t have a working bike.
Good stuff though, the next race should be good. It’s in June, I think they’re still finalising the date.
Yep its in June and I guess I’ll give it a try. Its a shame that they dont make a bit more noise though, most people only hear of it when its over and CX with spectators and beer is way more fun. It sometimes seems that they dont want people there.
…and congrats for the second place, nicely done and especially with a SS!
It’s more that it’s organised by local volunteers (i.e. Rob Parbery + MWCC + MWMTB) and they don’t really have the time or funds for a real promotional push. That’s the nature of cycling clubs too - a lot relies on word of mouth based on regular training, racing etc. (I only realised it was on when I saw Will Levy’s instagram post.)
They’re always keen for more interest, though bigger numbers will need more helpers on the day I guess. I took down a bit of bunting on down on Saturday but next time I’ll stick around longer to help out.
I’m going for a ride on Saturday. I was thinking about a roll out to Akuna Bay and Bobbin Head, then maybe Galston or Pie in the Sky or something. I can also come and ride north-west if that works.
It will have to be pretty early, so I can be home lunchtimeish.
I’m very much a non-definite for any riding this weekend. New babby means if I do get out I’ll be up at 4 and back by 7.
I thought that might be the case. Let me know when it eases up and you have some more time for a ride. Hope it is all going well.
All going pretty well so far. Managed to commute for the first time today, will hopefully get 2 or 3 commutes a week in. Weekends will be sneaky 40 or 50km rides, and very early.
I’m super keen for another wisman’s/hawkesbury adventure in the next few months, circumstance permittin. Really enjoyed that last gravel ride.
Probably about 18 years.
Lol ^
I’m going for a dirt ride on Saturday, up to Woota Woota lookout, between Smith’s and Wallis Lakes. The only reason i’m saying this is cause i don’t ride all that often of late! Will post ride photos when I get back.
Getting outta town ey?
Yeah, i’ve been buried in work and have finally wrapped up one pain-in-the-ass job/client, and I need a break! Also, the wifey goes back to her Masters the following week, so you know, while we can!
Yes. Maybe in Spring we can chase some more Hawkesbury Gravel.
