Indian Pacific Wheelrace

Just had a look and there is also some southern Sydney bits that aren’t going to be fun to negotiate.

It’s all part of the thrillride that is the IPWR Rowan.

Climing out of Audley is a bastard on any bike let alone loaded up after 5000+ k. Also that route kinda sucks. I dunno how people are navigating but I hope to shit it’s better than a gpx file in a garmin 810 because that will be a total disaster near the cbd and on the bike paths along cooks river. If someone is cruising through at some strange hour maybe I’ll duck down there and cheer them on. It’s pretty close to my place.

Good thing Kristof isn’t carrying ANYTHING

The Garmin eTrex is the gold standard for these events. If using one of those nav won’t be an issue

It’s possible. I got a lot of FOMO going on right now. Especially seeing how well Ben Hirons (good friend and regular riding buddy) is doing!!

Also just did the math: Kristof is averaging 22.4km/h INCLUDING STOPS!!! That’s insane.

Sorry for the double post, late to the thread party

Yep. Agreed

I reckon riding down Swanston - even during peak hour - would be way cool after all the riding they’ve done. You know that feeling when you’ve been out in the bush for ages and then you come back into town. Weird, but cool. Dunno about riding in Sydney.

Don’t think you should be giving them food or draughting for them eh. Supposed to be unsupported!

yeah, what’s the rule, can’t provide the racers with anything, unless you provide it to ALL of the racers…?

If they wanted a real Sydney experience to end the race they should have just done 20 laps in centennial and had someone punch them in the face.

And get a fine from the popo

So I gotta punch all of them?

Are they routed down Sydney Road in Melbourne, for that full on dooring experience?

Ride 5000km with no puncture then get a triple boullie tack.

nope, they come right past my work (well within a few hundred metres), and I think we have offered stuff (food, couch to nap on, shower, mechanical support etc) there in conjunction with Curve. Eoin can fix his own bike though.

lol last weekend.

“What cool sydney things can I bring down to Melbourne”

“king hits”

Mike Hall is seemingly closing the gap to Kristoff.

i think kristoff finally stopped for a rest. see what happens once he gets goin again…

for those playing in melbourne, also looks like Gareth has passed Ben? hard to tell, he might be resting too.

just had a look at the very back end of the race, and at the 614km mark, currently in last place, is a 74 year old bloke on a Giant.

that’s fkn rad. i hope he finishes.

Yeah, that’d be great, see lots of peoples aims is to finish in X times the first finishers time.
