It was def the team trailer. The poor guy driving the van didn’t know he was back there. He was in hospital for a while, and stuck in Melb trying to recover enough to get home. He’d sometimes be out on Brunswick St in his wheelchair. The fact that he can ride a bike at all is a miracle.

Death threats, violence and large “$$$ payments” were to be made for “permission” to hold the comp. These werent met by quiksilver and other sponsors so no more bowlriders!!

and i wondered what had happened to the marseilles comp, it always seemed to be very successful and possibly was one of the forerunners of the current wave of transition comps that had my fav riders congregating from all around the world. from what ive heard of marseilles as a town this doesnt overly surprise me though, its location as a primary shipping/entry point has meant that it has long had a ‘organised crime’ element.
