Can’t believe my bike held up on that course. I’ll think twice before using a 52 teeth chainwheel next year
Awesome ride, thanx to Andy and crew. A few pre- race ride shots before my battery went flat.
Also thanks to the dudes who I joined for lunch and a well earned beverage at the Lomond, and Coopers fine ales…looking forward to next year.
I think the highlight for me was not getting a flat. But my arse feels like jelly and my rear wheel has gone severely out of true. Great day.
For sure. I passed about 8 people with flats in that first 50 meters of railway rocks, most were skinny tyred roadies.
I was riding with a guy on a repeco rubbish dump find, including original tyres and tubes. He too was lucky not to flat.
Damn Liam! Hope you recover quickly dude! Sorry to hear this.
Priceless photo by the way
a guy called lee came home first (apparently he won it two years back), followed by some guy on a bike that looked like it was made of paper mache (apparently he won it last year), followed by some incredibly handsome guy (apparently he won a top tube pad in the raffle!).
none of them were racing because it wasn’t a race.
awesome picture. no hands riding to the hospital is still quicker then an ambulance
i’m back at home now, managed to really mess it up, broken wrist and spilt my scaphoid at the base of the thumb in half, which will have to be screwed together sometime this week, they just bent all the bones back last night, too much swelling to do anything else.was sposed to be starting a new job on friday, but i guess i’m now unemployed. enjoyed the part of the ride i did, the railway section was brilliant, barrelling along on the new gatorskins.
thanks to sarah for waiting with me, and omar visiting today. i feel really bad for almost taking out everybody when i crashed, i did take out joe, but he seemed ok, fingers crossed.
Sorry to hear about your crash. Hope the recovery goes well.
Des
Luck had nothing to do with it, those tyres are bombproof (despite the disintegrating side walls!!)
First time riding the Melburn, had a blast!
Cheers
Conor
