My first Melburn-roobaix. Loved it. Thanks to everyone who made it happen.
cheers, rich
Had a blast, had to remind myself not to take it too seriously - never did stop for a ‘recommended’ coffee with the guys I rode with. Riding on a rear tyre that was already down to the canvas in a couple of spots, I couldn’t believe my luck not scoring a puncture on the train section, or the cobblestones - even a mate on a MTB copped one. ‘Sucks to be you’ indeed.
As well as supporting the businesses that supported the event, don’t forget, you can always stage your own organised ride – whether it’s a race, a pub crawl, a devonshire tea crawl, coffee crawl (now that’d surely end in tears and sore bladders), a session at Brunswick Velodrome, now that everyone knows where it is, five riders or fifty.
I’ve often wondered when I’ll get a chance to rip a 100m skid again - I should stop waiting and start organising
Fuck get well Liam! (0_o)
a guy called lee came home first (apparently he won it two years back), followed by some guy on a bike that looked like it was made of paper mache (apparently he won it last year), followed by some incredibly handsome guy (apparently he won a top tube pad in the raffle!).
none of them were racing because it wasn’t a race.
What time did they come in? I came in at 2pm, there was only a handful of people sitting around the velodrome by then. most were probably down at the pub i guess
Check this out for a laugh:

There’s always next year. I’m starting recruitment for my Quickstep style team for 2010. Don’t be suprised if you get a tap on the shoulder.
So what’s this about you not wearing the Liquigas outfit this year? So that’s why you lost?
I had a lot of fun on sat, thanks to all the people who I chatted with,
But as a messenger i make a great salesman, missed a check point had to go back 10km, my pen broke and leaked everywhere,Didn’t get a puncture, saw about ten.
I’m now keen for some Wednesday rides to improve my skills, oh and who was in the bottles n chains jersey, that guy is insanely good.
I hope the chick that wiped out into a tree just before the velo is O.K.
From the ‘chick that wiped out into a tree just before the velo’, i am ok, just unsightly with a pussing elbow
It was great nevertheless, once in a while it’s good to learn some good habits.
Does anybody know what happened to the kids that ‘wiped out’ on Mt Alexander Pde?
I’ve got Quickstep gloves. Can I get a wildcard entry?
I’ll keep you in mind bro.
Who is this dude out of interest?
Such a funny contrasting photo…
hahaha. Remember that bloke. stood out like a sore thumb.
Had a ripper day and glad it didnt rain as forecast.
My 2cents…
- Glad I didn’t ride my good wheels. Rims got a right old scratching.
- Who was that noob who rocked up in overshoes? Was riding a taped up Specialised. FAIL.
- Bike of the day was the blue Kypo with the white Vittorias. Lush!
Matty?
That would be heatseeker. Why fail?
The guy who came second to your hundred-and-somethingth?
Why was it taped up? Protection against scratches?
Protection against his sponsorship deal…
now watch masking tape catch on like spokecards…
