Miche Primato installation instructions

I got one shipped up from Melbourne and there are no installation instructions included.

Could anyone help me please?

LH thread on driveside, RH thread on nondriveside. Don’t overtighten.

Adjust chainline by loosening one and tightening the other to shift the cartridge side to side.

Use a Campy BB / Lockring tool on the splines.

^ thank you
do you suggest using locktight when I ready to do it for real?

also need to get a rear cog (sliver)
I’m currently running 48 x 19 but new chainring is 44 so thinking 44 x 17

I’ll do some calculations on the good ol’ rabbit

One more question
The cartridge has a groove approx 10mm down from one end of the cartridge. It is not repeated at the other end.
Does it matter if this goes drive side or non drive side?

Warning,
These things are extremely hard to get in, I got halfway and the splines on the bb were gone, took me about 3h to get the piece of crap out.
Godd luck

Don’t use loctite. maybe use a wrap or two of plumber’s teflon tape if you must use something but if your bb shell is in good shape and you do what Blakey told you it shouldn’t be necessary.

When in like a dream but I haven’t adjusted for my chainline until I get a correct size rear cog…

They’re nice BB but I have read in a few threads that they can unwind so I’m going to use loctite

the ‘piece of crap’ was probably your botch job rattle can paintjob that you neglected to cover the bb threads for. no bb is hard to get in if your frame is clean and you use the right tools.

^ I wholeheartedly agree

I put one of these in a few months back, I just used a generous amount of grease - no loctite - and it’s been perfect thus far. I did have to put on/take off the cranks like three times before I got the chainline right though.

I don’t think it matters about that groove. I didn’t bother caring. Maybe there is a 50% chance I got it right

his ride…

If you’ve got an english BB you’ll only be able to put it in one way. I’m with CC - don’t use loctite. Put it in properly and it will be fine. I’ve been running an adjustable BB like this for years with no problems. If you’re worried about loosening, you can put a BB/cog lockring on.

Ben - a.davis12 is talking about Fixed27, not Azz.

This is fixed27’s bike, its not a ‘botch job rattle can paintjob’ as a.davis12 put it.
Threads were protected from paint using old bb cups and the right tool was used for installation.
Possibly something to do with the tpi? i dunno. Had no issue with a couple of other bb’s so all good now.

Nah the cups (english) will go one way but the actual cartridge inside fits either way, but like I said, I don’t think it matters. There’s no room for a lockring with these either (depending on chainline) they can sit flush with the shell

no room for lock rings at all

If Italian threaded, use Plumbing tape and see how it goes. If the drive side loosens, time for loctite. I’ve heard a couple of horror stories of this bb totally unscrewing itself.

My bad, I guess a.davis12 is being extra cynical today.

Oh… the cartridge. Normally you put the cratridge in so that the writing reads from the non drive side to the drive side. But I agree, I doubt it matters.

err, the cartridge bearings don’t care which way they turn, so it’ll be fine whichever way you want to install it.

Yep, thats my bike up there, and definitely isn’t a “piece of crap” “botch job” and I did everything the instructions said.
