couple of months ago i signed with Voda when i went the HTC One (m7) on the $65 plan unlimited calls/sms and 3gb data. They’re fine, no worse/better then others i reckon
Especially if it’s got Robin Thicke on it…
^ mate, I’ve got two excellent records of Robin’s on my iphone. I’ll share them with you, you’ll love 'em
What if I say no?
Im with you on this, going through this pain atm, hate every second.
Dropbox for file transfers. Spotify for music. It’s all in the cloud, man.
Yeah. I do that. On my iPhone.
^ Exactly - don’t have to use iTunes.
If some of you have home internet plans then some company’s offer additional mobile subscriptions that are cheap and part of a package. I own my phone iPhone (was bought used & was perfect) and my mobile plan is $9 per month as part of my connection with home phone & internet. All this is through Exetel (which goes through Optus).
If this route works for you then checkout all the plans to see which offer additional mobile coverage. Read all the fine print, compare all the packages and see what works for you
is there any other providers out there that run on the telstra network??
Boost
Kogan
Aldi
3G only IIRC.
I use Vaya. I would recommend it, but lots of people have had trouble and don’t expect ANY service for that price.
I pay $25 a month, run on Optus and get 2.5GB of data. Which suffices for everything I do (wifi at home and office though).
Be wary of the critical information statements and the method by which data is charged, by KB or MB, the budget telcos often use MB which burns through it quicker.
am using Aldi, does work, shits all over vodafail even before factoring in actual coverage of actual populated areas that vodafail actually says are actually covered but arnt (nice to be able to use my phone when at my bro’s house)
they used to have insane value to get people i, and have recently reduced the data and calls you get for the money, however, i’m still paying $30 a month and still get more data and calls than i can use, just not by as much
Thought Kogan mobile dissapeared though?
Yeah you’re right - just found this list on Whingepool - Australian Mobile Providers - Carriers & MVNOs | IDD
I’m with Vodafone, they have been good for about 5 years. Their customer service has become quite competent and I normally have better coverage than my wife on optus.
I’m all about Sony phones, the xperia Z is sweet and my friend has the Z1 and is also only speaking positive about it. It doesn’t require you to be tech minded to operate and has the least amount of added crap which can’t be deleted that I’ve come across. Previously have used iphone and samsung so reasonably fair comparisons.
QFT. I think the Woolworths pre-paid charges by the mb, not by kb, so you can go through data quicker.
If your phone still works just go prepaid. Plans are a scam! Buy outright or second hand, wait for the new phone to come out and someone else will “upgrade” then you can have their old one. My last phone was a HTC and lasted about 7 years. Now I’ve got Kits old i phone 4 (maybe) which works fine.
everyone in my family is on exetel and while they have very limited customer service the plans were super cheap when they signed up. dad is on the same volume plan as me, but at 1/2th the (advertised) price. dawns was at a similar discount.
having said that i talked my way into a good optus deal last go-around but will be looking at a non-big 3 next time.
spider- id argue that plans are a scam, though will totally agree plans with an ‘included’ phone are frequently a ripoff, but if you BYO theres some good deals (and call/sms/data costs are frequently cheaper - assuming you arent going for unlimited).
spiritos recommendation for packaging (or finding a 2 for 1/family deal) is good advice.
Also, I would recommend contacting your provider directly and posing a “what have you done for me lately” kind of question.
If you’ve got a few months to go or to hold out then waste those months being ballsy and trying to get free/reduced things.
I managed to talk Optus into a $200 credit recently to cover the cost of a new Nokia after breaking my Samsung only a few months into contract.
Granted it’s a piece of shit phone, but it just goes to show that they can easily afford to buy me one for free.
I just googled “Email contact for Optus” and then just used my time between calls at work to hassle them a bit until they came to the party.
You never know til you try.
OH and buy a Nexus 5 when the 6 comes out soon, it’ll be hella cheap and is one of the best phones out.
