I sold that De Rosa I had been riding for a bit over a year, the blue one with front basket and old zipps.
Now my daily bikes are a Nakagawa funny track frame, and this 3Rensho track frame…the GT just sits around most of the time…I think it is interesting, but it is a bit loud and modern for my taste…
The GT is a time trial frame with very narrow 60mm rear spacing, half that of a normal track frame. The bb is also super narrow, and the Q of the cranks is really awkward. The disk seems to be a one-off for the frame. The cranks are mavic and I have a full set of carbon disk chainrings from 46-55 to go with it. The markings on the back of the cranks are just hand etched, so I guess they are prototypes/non retail cranks/chainrings. I think it may have been a bike used at the Olympics or WCs by a US team member…but I am not certain.
The Nakagawa is an Osakan frame. That is where i live… Mr Nakagawa is a non-NJS builder, which is rare in Japan. He chooses to focus on road, funny and hybrid carbon/steel frames and such…He used to work at Zunow, another Osakan builder which is no longer around.
The frame has a heavily dented in seat tube for very tight clearancing of the rear tyre, and a flat top tube, 24 inch front wheel and squared off lugs. The chain and seat stay tubes, when viewed from behind or above, bend outwards.
The disks are Araya Japan team disks. Ergo stem is just there so I can ride it comfortably every day.
The saddle is a super soft Kashimax Aero prototype, which I am testing. Hopefully it is released next year, because it is really comfortable and looks perfect.
The 3Rensho is another daily rider, but gets used less than the Nakagawa… It is a mix of Cinelli, Sugino, Suntour, Sakae, Brooks…all sorts of stuff. I enjoy building bikes like this, mixing different parts from various countries, eras and styles… keep things interesting.
The frame is basically a track frame with front and rear brake holes, and brake cable braze ons…slightly greenish gunmetal…a color I have not seen before.
It is very quiet and comfortable, but I just wish the saddle would soften up a bit quicker! The 2 brakes keep my wife happy, as well as the recumbent riders… I need to fix up that handle bar angle! Looks a bit odd in the photos.
