near misses

BEWARE 8-9AM RIDERS

School zonez.

This morning. Riding to work. Past a school. Avoided the door of a parked 4WD being opened by mummy. Doors opening on my left hand side. Standard. No fuss. No rage.

Boom.

Got doored by tartan skirted passenger ejecting self from double parked 4WD on my right hand side.

Pain and rage ensued.

Never EVER riding in between parked cars and heavy traffic through a school zone. Ever. Again.

I guess Its such a hard situation I find myself in… because I dont feel like i can do anything… its so frustrating!

yeah… your right. sorry… i think i have post traumatic stress… sorry dudes…
i keep having nightmares about it every night… may go see a doctor bout it

you ok patch?

I just amended my last Will and Testament since you put first dibs on it. You get it when I’m dead mate :stuck_out_tongue: The way I’m going that could be a real possibility.

I are confused

Also, my ego’s about as big as my dick, if that’s any interest to you roxy

to coin a musical term, ā€˜Diminishing’?

I’m fine. Slowed down a lot after avoiding the first door. Just an awkward collision rather than a bone crunching one.

I was gonna say ā€˜engorged’, maybe you can edit your post to include that.

a note: this thread is getting awful close to being locked.

I was car doored on Chapel street yesterday morning.
The door only smacked my leg, but it was enough to ruin my day.
It’s welted up - and will have a lovely looking bruise, soon enough.

The part that caused me to rage is the guy in fault didn’t realise what he’d done was wrong, or even illegal.
I’m glad his much nicer passenger apologised, or I may have caused him some harm.

^fuck.

half the time they dont even care its just a inconvenience to them!

has for me today road to elwood and back along the yarra and through the city to beach rd , coming back where the yarra trail detour is , as you go under the underpass and come up at mary street richmond a guy on a racer came flying around the corner , i saw him in the mirror on the brick wall, he slammed into my leg and i bounced of the wire fence , managed to stay upright , he then started to abuse me said i should be on the track , hmm what ever mate ,

Riding down victoria st when some old guy almost stepped right in front me. Scared him so hard he started doing the boogaloo.

Only one near miss today… that’s a record for me.

On the way to the swap meet last weekend I witnessed a douchepotato coming around a blind corner, half in my lane, over double white lines, whilst talking on his mobile.

So I flipped him da boid.

1 minute later he’s done a u-turn, speeding towards me, locks the brakes and slides to a halt in front of me and jumps out of the car running towards me, demanding to know why I gave him the finger.

Luckily the basket bike is nothing if not faster than this cock and I evade, ride away from him to the strains of ā€˜yeah run away you pussy blergle roaarggh arhhh’

He was where this ute was:

His RHS wheel skidmark as he slid to a stop, luckily his brakes were shit enough that he didn’t take me out in the process.

Aye carumba! Get a licence plate dude?

Yeah, that corner is tight. I’ve started to take the lane when heading North before turning right into the car park and down towards Dights Falls. Heading South it’s easy to have cars cut the bike lane when following the corner round to the left, so you have to keep your wits about you.

Ride safe out there folks.

i got rear ended on friday night. took off from the lights turning right, dropped the chain and someone hit me from behind. didn’t even knock me off my bike and just shifted the wheel in the dropouts, but the wanker chucked a u-turn and did a runner. thankfully i cracked his front bumper and my bike wasn’t damaged at all.
a witness got the plates but when i went to the police station, they didn’t match the description of the car.

Bugger. What caused you to drop a chain? Never had those issues meself before.

Some strap on sped up and pulled across 2 lanes to turn left into Brunswick Rd from Park St right in front of me this morning. I could sense he was building toward a dickmove so I was fine. He was still waiting to turn left while I proceeded up Sydney Rd.
Then just after on Sydney Rd a cab almost hit me, like missing rear ending me by centimetres.
He obviously was reading where his next job was and luckily looked up and avoided me at the last second.
I’m honestly going to kill someone in a fit of rage one day.
