A couple of people have seen this on BNA, I didn’t really publish this on FOA yet:
1979 Fuji Finest Mk II (original condition frameset with a few marks but no scars)
Cinelli 1A stem
Cinelli 65-42 bars
5700 shifters
5600 cranks, RD
6200 600EX FD (yes, it works with the 5700)
Tektro mid-reach brakeset for 700C wheels
No-name alloy seat post
I swapped the saddle to a Fizik Arione, got my front brake long nut on, and I’m building a set of 6400 hubs up to run 8/9 of 10 on 126mm.
The splay on the Crit’s is actually pretty comfortable. I rode it to and from work yesterday and it felt sweet.
Nope. Front brake on back, special long bolt from SJS for front. The previous owner politely suggested I explore options when I asked his thoughts. He’s first in line to buy it back if it goes up for sale, so I thought I’d ask him before doing anything drastic.
My first roadie, just got it today!
Feels quite stiff but somewhat comfortable.
Most of the stuff is stock but the first things to go will be the white bar tap, get a shorter stem, cut the steerer a bit.
then start saving up for some entry carbon wheels. First time riding Di2 and its so smooth, real good first impressions since I dont know much about Ridley.
Drool. This thing is by far one of the best bikes I’ve ridden, my perfect build. Still not sold on the all-city branding, though the blue is nice. May have a future respray once I stack it a few times. As per my frame fitting (when I had plans for customs) my measurements were identical to the standard All-City frames, so made sense to go off the shelf.
Will be used for some gravel and a whole lot of kilometres, I am neither fast nor a racer so is spec’ed to how I will use it. Weight TBC soon.
Frame: All City Macho Man (Columbus Zona pipes)
Fork: Columbus Minimal Carbon
Wheelset: Open pro to chris king
Grouppo: Ultegra 6700
Misc: Thomson trimmings, campy cables, panaracer pasela 28c tyres, SPDs cos hubbard4lyf.
Better photos to come shortly.
Big props to the infamous Sugarkanye/Skunkworks for the building skills and resources!
@Classical - cool Fenix! I was very close to pulling the trigger on the 105 spec version.
But I got this instead!
Second hand 2012 frameset, brand spankers Ultegra 6800 & fulcrum 35’s. Need to move the shifters way down on the bars (don’t want to lose bartape though- can you re-wrap with same tape…?), lower on the steerer & think about a longer stem. Love it. Feels lightyears ahead of the 7 year old 105-spec bike it replaces. Can’t wait to race it.
Plans are to fix the write-off bike that it’s replacing (new need to find cheap steel frame/forks and wheels) so I don’t have to ride this for the commute/rain/junk-training.
Then something like Zipp 404f/808r tubs for this guy.
