one way to tighten up shitty clearances
Yeah, i laughed at this too. He is an artist in SF, in the Benny gold mould.
and i’m very sure he doesnt ride one given that he has done repeated commission works for c’dale/Hufnagel and some other builders for custom bikes for himself.
he has been riding track bikes for quite some time (and by that i mean 6+ real years, not hipster years) and has more experience/history with bikes than to have a POH.
that’s why I found it amusing. I think he has done the art on the new macaframa bike?
And as his name may suggest, he is infact quite the giant and would be unable to find a bike that would fit him from the POH size range available.
he totez hocked all his vintage steel just to get his ink-splattered mitts all over one of these sick whips, YO!!!
hmmm, i don’t really give 2 figs about mike giant, but i’m gonna call bullshit on that and say that MG is way better than benny gold
Benny gold isn’t that interesting, whereas Mike Giant and his cool Rebel 8 shit is king.
Bought one of his shirts the other day. $70 for a tee? Eh, worth it, that shirt is mad!
yeah, I shouldn’t have said that. I didn’t mean in artistic style etc. But in the fixed gear/sf/being an artist type of way.
Isn’t she that slapper from Fortitude Valley with a penchant for aerosols?
I saw a P.O.H in a shop window today. It looked like I might bend it.
Mike Giant riding this, I’d pay to see that he might have been given one and swapped it for some poska pens that he used to design the new cinelli ram ltd edition bars.
If he does ride one you $70 tee is now only worth about $7 sorry but yeah he has skills with the pen and paint.
Just so you know, PH is not owned by the same ‘parent company’ like you said, Industrie is owned
by ONE man, and he certainly does not own Glue, they just wholesale to Glue… You can verify this information by checking the ABN’s online. I know this is a little off topic, it just ticked me off a little because of how wrong your information is.
Yep, it is owned by a friend of a friend of mine, apparently. It just gets marketed in those retail stores.
Now to be honest- does everyone just hate on these because it is commercializing a subculture that we relate to?
In the past people didn’t take notice of ‘sub cultures’ because it was just some ferals/punks etc doing their thing and Joe Average couldn’t relate to it. Once business realised they could make money off the backs of others peoples designs, ideas or their sub culture, they jumped on it… whether it be complete bikes, MASH logos etc.
They thing I dislike about it, is that they use the ideas, designs etc of others to make money for themselves, without acknowledging the original and without adding anything to the sub culture themselves. Once they’ve made whatever money they can off it, they’ll move onto the next big thing.

I agree with you mate, but unfortunately thats business isn’t it. The sooner all the cycling purists realize that it is JUST BUSINESS,
and stop acting like complete wankers about every pop up brand and every person who rides a cheap bike, the better.
IMO, It’s not about people who ride cheap bikes. It’s about the wankers that produce them.
I’ll leave it there.
Just as an aside, this don’t mean shit. You can have multiple companies with different ABNs all owned by the same parent company.
my fetishes have been commodified
In a way you are both right - an ASIC search will reveal the ultimate holding company. I know because I am doing 80 of them at the moment…
Hi ifreewheel. What’s your commercial interest in these cheap bikes? Are you with Industrie? Or are you with whoever makes the Potential Of Hydrogen bikes? I think if you reveal your motivation here we’ll be able to move onto a more honest and rewarding discussion.
Cheers
need help with that? there at least 3 ASIC employees on here.
