Pulled the trigger on a Vector/510 combo, wildfiresports.com.au had the pair for $1560. Considering I watched a 6 month old, second hand pair of Vectors sell for $1220 last night, I think that’s ok.
Picked vector so that I can swap between current bike and maybe-future-one-day-race-bike. And I went to the superdrome for the first time last week and that was wicked good fun, so with that in mind the Vector is (I think?) the only PM that is swappable between track & road bikes. That, and if I went stages I’d need a new crankset on my current roadie to replace the square-taper 105 set.
iBike Newton arrived Thursday with three extra sensor kits so we are now “Team Swuzz p/b iBike”
Set it up on the commuter Friday uncalibrated just to get some numbers and get a feel for it.
Then on the roadie Saturday - cool to upload it all after Mt Eliza ride and see it plot where I was drafting, braking, out-of-saddle etc.
Swuzz jnr had it rigged up for Kew Blvd yesterday and pacing himself at about 110w set a new pb - marginal gains lol.
So the pod on my stages has cracked and unit is not working anymore. Haven’t crashed/dropped bike or had anything happen to the arm that’d compromise the crank really. Hoping this is a quick warranty issue, have heard that stages customer service is really good but I’m guessing I’ll have to deal with the Aus distro.
Track sessions the other night, 5 minutes of swapping turns:
Same night, lots of very slow & then two lap sprints:
Super cool to see how it relates to the quality of your intervals. These two actually felt kinda accurate, was feeling pretty toasted at the end of each one.
Any reading around on how to set the W’ value? It’s a prick of a thing to search google for.
Assuming your CP is OK, you want W’ at a level that the w’bal just remains positive when you completely empty your tank.
Start yourself at say 25,000kj and bump it up if you find any ride that breaks that.
GC should have some tools to deduce it (or a range) from your data in due course.
Change your colour for W’bal while you’re at it too! tools|options|appearance
My friend/boss Tristan Dimmock races the NRS and gave me a glimpse into how he gets coached the other day when I asked him for advice about FTP. He uploads all his PM files and a descriptive sentence for each ride he does onto training peaks. His coach (Cheryl Woods I think) has viewing access to his account and provides feedback on his training as well as meeting in person etc.
In 2004 we introduced the iBike Pro at the revolutionary price of $349. Ten years later we’re keeping the revolution alive with a limited-edition iBike Pro that has all of iBike’s 2014 technology and features, at the original $349 price.
