as for the mavic rims, i think they suck! my best mate had a down hill wheel fold on him and he ended up in Saint Vinnies for three days!
Sounds like your mate has some other issues.
I’ve been riding Mavic CXP22’s for four years, no problems, been trued once.
If you buy those wheels, maybe it’s time to learn to fit your own tires.
Also, I can’t tell if you’re taking the piss or not.
I change my tires with teaspoons. It’s cheaper than buying tire levers, and they don’t snap when you really have to put a bit of pressure on.
Perhaps get some teaspoons and practice on your old rims before you try on mine. PM sent.
downhill will break even good parts, and even then those rims are completely different to what you would run on a road bike, and they make different quality rims anyway.
i’ve got a 719 on the polo bike, which sees heaps of knocks and crashes and i’ve only had to give it a slight true once, and i ran open pros on my bike that got run over and they’re out of true but should still be recoverable.
