Riding in the rain!

Yep, I’l be riding in the rain too, Going east->west across the northern suburbs sucks for PT.

think i saw you this morning, somewhere around macarthur street.

i was drenched even before i reached sydney road this morning…so i made sure i stuck to the bike lane to ride through the deeper parts of as many puddles as i could. was rad.

Looking for options for good detachable mudguards. I had these Wiggle | Crud Race Pac Mudguard Set | Mudguards but they didn’t fit the bike too well.

Anyone used these? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/full-windsor-foldnfix-rear-mudguards/

Other options?

Yeah, probably me. But man, I couldn’t see shit.

rode in from montmorency along the bike paths pretty much, water up to my ankles at a few spots.

was so rad and so much better than being in a car, not another soul in sight for the majority

chunky toad did it’s best, but was doomed from the start. puddle at the bottom, laptop wet but still working thank god!!

Would just like to reiterate that cantis don’t do shit in the rain!

hahaha i had a bit of a moment rolling down the driveway, that was a wake up call!!

buy a new bike!

also, if puddle slashing in the rain with full fenders and a dyno blazing are wrong, then i dont want to be right!

Serious? I’ve never had water get into my Chunky Toad - was the lid on properly? :stuck_out_tongue: Rode in the rain today from Macleod to Commuter to CBD and contents still dry, even though flap wasn’t fully closed due to bag being overfilled with junk and an awkwardly shaped porteur rack. Chunky Toad ftw.

serious. the bottom of the bag was soaked through and i suspect that’s where all the water got in as the top of the bag was pretty much all dry, might have to check my rear fender, i did notice a bit of a rooster tail at one point. maybe i need to attach one of those leather/plastic/rubber flaps on the bottom to minimise the sprayback.

Fact!

Is your bag lined with truck tarp or the softer stuff??

The softer stuff isn’t 100% waterproof :frowning:

Cheap, shit, non cartridge Tektro pads worked surprisingly well on cantis in the rain this morning (they are totally useless in the dry however)

Get a water gun to spray them on dry days.

Should have opted for xpac liner/outer. Mines been fantastic over the last year.

only have them on the back until they wear out, coolstop salmons on the front

SKS Raceblades - they fit aero frames pretty well. They work well on the planet-x, just a pain to get right.

Purchased them in a Wiggle shopping binge. Couldn’t get it to fit well on the carbon roadie (gap above brake bridge too small), and it just didn’t seem to look like it was going to work on the alloy roadie either (flimsy). Sold it and continued to use an old seat-post mounted fender thing. Currently thinking about going the full fenders this winter, but I wouldn’t mind giving an Ass Saver a go. Have trouble coming to terms with fenders on my bikes, but I don’t much like wet feet+arse either.

Do this. You won’t regret it. You can buy them or I’ve seen milk bottle cutouts work quite well. Or you could just buy some leather yourself and cut them out. Or rubber. Whatever it is, it’ll help immensely.
