Soma wolverine build thread

^Yep that’s it. Looks like a mud trap. 6800 is mostly smooth and flat.
Going to go compact 34-50 with an 11-32 cassette.

Jaybus! Is all that filleting etc supposed to reduce weight or something?

Cheapest way to make it stiff without going to an expensive hollow ring.

So it’s a forged, then machined ring?

whoooooaaaa! different to the pic i found on google this morn. yeah, that looks like a turd.

Righto. Looks okay from the front, but as noted it’s a freakin mud trap.

Have you tried a larger tyre? Not that it’s a big issue as I’ll be running Rock’n’Roads.
Something like a Big Apple 2.0"?

I’ll try and fit bigger ones in soon, and take photos. Serfas Drifter 29" x 2.0.

Its almost alive. Looks more road/cx than monstercross. Still deciding what Seat to Bar drop I would like, so will leave a few spacers in and work that out over the next couple of months.

King cages are to be installed, all up, its a pretty damm sweet build…considering its all built out of shed parts. The decals on the wheels are baked on, so can’t take off. But my Dynamo runs a black crest, so might match that with a R45 CK disc in the future.

I need a front rack to suit, to hold small front panniers…but the front fork doesn’t have mid-fork eyelets on both side (inner and outer), just the outer.

Need to do;

decide on steerer height.
bar tape (already done single roll on top)
install king cages
tune gears.
pull mad mono’s.

You should be shot for that bar angle.

It’s not finished yet, so bar comments seem a bit pointless.

Start as you intend to finish.

I going to now leave that bar angle, and put a gates drive on.

You’re dead to me.

Tubus Tara Big Apple is the lowrider you need.

Thanks Andrew.

Regular Tara should fit around RnR’s easily. Should get around anything up to 2.0".

Nice build Rhino. I wish my Double Cross could fit those tyres.

I like the the bar angle, not keen to see gates on it though.
Have you found a buyer for those tyres yet?

I had a regular Tara on mine on the weekend. Cleared a 2" mounted to the forward eyelets.
