Support my boy with Cancer

2 days, 100km a day

im keen to do either melb or brissy leg, will fly over

100km a day, with 25-35km interval pit stops during the days.

I hope to buy a roadie in the next 2 weeks to join and learn more about the event and training.

Why I am interested this next year? My Mother aged 44, passed away on August 9th 2011 after being diagnosed with cancer in late March. She had a rare type of malignant cancer (15cm x 20cm tumor) not attached to anything in her abdomen, but as with malignant caner ened up spreading to her lungs first, other organs and finally a spot was found on her brain. She had gone through what the doctor described as “the most intense” chemotherapy treatment and had full blood transfusions nearly every week. Although the cancer go the better of mum she was well looked after by the good people at the Wesley Hospital, especially within ward 4A, whom do a terrific job of making those terminally ill pertinence go out in the most comfortable and dignified way.

Sorry to hear that mate. If we can get a small crew for the Qld ride that would be great, i’m more than likely doing this on the roadie.

Hey Cheapfixed, I too very sorry to hear of your loss.

You are spot on with your ride summary:100km-ish a day, with 25-35km interval pit stops during the days with drinks and snaks provided. Spoke to some of the organisers today andthey will not release the exact route prior to the event however the girl said it basicly goes from UQ in the city out to summerset dam. I’m gonna look into the hills n stuff on the way to an idea of what ratio to run.

If Anyone has done the mission out to Summerset before any beta would be great!!

Oh yeah, Kiasu if ya need a place in brizzy to stay I can put you up.

I’m signed up for the Brisbane leg. My reason is that I had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when I was 22/23 - got the all clear now though.

Will post up my sponsor page but only after Lokione has hit his $2.5k target. However if you want to sponsor me specifically drop me a PM.

Cheers.

Ah just seen Duggy has put my page up in his original post. Still, help him to his target first!

Found this map of last years route for those interested, shows inclines n stuff to…

How do I donate without a credit card?

funds sent

The only other official way is to send a personnel cheque. Un-officially you could give a mate with a credit card the cash and get him/her to donate the amount. How’s life going without the iced coffee’s and the porn? Cups of tea and $2 Zoo mags getting you by?

Nooo, been smoking a pack a day and drinking rum instead. Idk what’s going on any more

Hey all, want to send a big thanx to everyone who has had a look at my link, told someone, made a donation and has or is thinking about getting on board this ride. I have raised my $2500 needed to get in and will now be chasing coin to get XCX in as well. Thanx heaps…

Wow, good work Lokione! I’m currently sitting at just under $700, long way to go!

Here is my link again in case anyone is feeling generous!

100ks around Brisbane pretty good video, wish he ha a video of the Cancer ride though.

Bump! My fund raising has stalled a bit. If anyone wants to support my cause it would be appreciated!

BUMP BITCHES
This thing isn’t far off now and XCX is so close, check the link
The 2012 Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Queensland Institute of Medical Research: Mr. Christopher James Clarke - The Ride to Conquer Cancer Australia

If you can, give him a hand, send his link to work mates… Come on!!!

Don’t forget you only have a couple of days left to get your end of year donations. “According to giving figures compiled by GiveNow.com.au which range from 2001-02 to the present day, June remains the biggest month for both the amount of money Australians donate, as well as for the number of donations made. Meanwhile, a 2010 Dunham and Company study found the majority of Australians gave to charity a few times per year or more.”*

Well over this weekend me and Lokione took part in this. Between us we raised $5.6k. The route was pretty rolling but I won’t complain too much as it was a great ride and Lokione did it fixed brakeless so probably has more to complain about!

Apparently we finished in the first 10% so even though it wasn’t a race we were pretty stoked with that. Especially seeing at we set of half an hour after the first riders this morning.

We were told the ride raised over $5million towards cancer research this year which is a great result.

I’m sure L-one will wade in with some comments, i’m going to continue lying down.

Oh and massive thanks to everyone from here that sponsored us!

Yep, Big thanks to everyone here who chucked in and showed support. Big ups to xcx Legend. Great weekend and a really good event. Even the demoralising head wind for 80% of Saturday made it feel like job well done “and thats what it’s all about lol” (inside joke!)
