Hey,
Looking at this steamroller in syd but I’m in melb so can’t check it out in person.
Do steamrollers come in an option for threaded fork/stem?
Does this look legit ?

^ I think my mate’s had a threaded fork, so I’m gonna say…yes.
The steamroller is threadless stock.

I mean, you could thread the fork, even ignoring the fact that it’s 1 1/8" so stems and headsets are hard to find, it would be fucking stupid, heavier & flexier. But I guess it takes all types, because I put a 1 1/8" threaded suspension fork/headset/stem out on the curb and it disappeared pretty quickly.
The steamroller fork, available separately is also threadless, but 1 or 1 1/8" inch steerers, so you might use one and thread it if you have an old frame that needs a fork and you just love quill stems. But there are so many other factory threaded options and threading & keyway cutting is hard work, why would you.
That’s what I thought , I wasn’t aware of steamrollers coming in a threaded 1" option. This one has a CK 1" headset on it. I’m fishy about the frame as no stickers been resprayed matte black and not threadless… Hmmm
Is it TIG welded?

If not, not a steamroller.
Come to think of it maybe he did have a threadless stem…hmmm, I’m going to leave now. (Dropouts look Surly-esque.)
chain stays are straight, surly never made straight chain strays did they? think i’ll be giving this a miss!
I looked at that listing the other day. I’d put money on it not being a Surly.
Edit: damn good rip off though.
With due respect to surly, why would someone make a fake, make it de rosa at least
still, it’s got mad spinergys.
and why would someone put a CK headset on a fake!
the dropouts and seat stays look OK, but not sure about anything else, including the matte finish…
think I’ll pass just to be safe…
If you inspected it in person you’d be able to tell if it’s fake pretty much straight away I reckon.
yeah thats the only problem, if it was in melbourne I would. oh well keep on looking
To up the sale price? Wouldn’t be the first time a fake’s been dressed up and sold for a tidy profit.
You guys have been reading too much Julian Assange
Ha! From the man who started the fakes on ebay thread!
Ha! From the man who doesn’t read.

It’s one thing to fake a brand name component, it’s quite another to be bothered to fake a Surly of all things, and then chuck an expensive headset on it. I mean, come on!
