Hey, sorry if I missed it… where do you work Coffee? reason I ask is I am down in Melbourne from the 7th - 10th of November and will be trying to see as much as the place as possible as it will only be my 2nd time down there. If I can come and have a taste of your brew, that would be a bonus. I am staying down at St Kilda if that helps?
Had some Ethiopian Aricha out of a clover (at cafe - not mine) this morning. WoW! Not as nice as the Beloya I had previously, but its getting there. The roaster has only just got it in, so still fine tuning profiles.
I’d be interested to know where you work also Coffee (assuming you weren’t just going to post it up for everyone to see).
I’ve never really understood trying to create an espresso at home. I prefer having one made for me while I’m out and about. Although baristas that know what they are doing are few and far between.
At home all I have is this
Well to be fair I’ve got about 5 of the former but they are like vintage bicycle parts. you can never have to many.
very nice. Syphon is awesome! But upgrade the grinder before you buy another one. My brother had a Delonghi, but got a rocky recently. Much better coffee for it.
It was a present. The guy who brought it does his research before he buys anything, like to the point of OCD, so if I got a different one I’d have a lot of explaining to do.
You are indeed the fountain of knowledge on the breville. I’ll ask my local parts guy about that basket. I haven’t made it out to pick up the new seal yet so I’ve got the turkish coffee pot on the job. anyone else like it muddy?
At the risk of being flamed by a bunch of atomphiles… I wouldn’t buy an Atomic to make coffee. Cool to look at, interesting design, but crappy brewing method to try and get consistency with.

No worries. I know what you mean. It is certainly better than a herb chopper and gasp supermarket preground in any event. Be interesting for you to borrow someone else’s grinder though and see if you can taste the difference. If you can, there’s your explanation. If not, no need to change.
Glad you liked it… that blend had just finished degassing so was about 3 days since it had been roasted. Also the equipment helped, Wega Sphera, running on reverse osmosis water filtration system for the purest possible water, and 2.0mm restrictors to consistently pump out 88-90 degrees through the group. Mazzer Kony grinder with conical burrs to gently crush the beans and then i poured within seconds of grinding. I’d dialled that in a few hours before though, so i could make an even nicer one with a bit of a tweak and season of the basket, but you were in a hurry
I work at Genovese Coffee, anyone with a genuine passion for coffee is welcome to make a time to come and see me, its a rad setup. I have a training room with 5x wega 2 group machines, 4x 1 group, and 5x mazzer grinders. Then theres the roasting plant, and over 100ton of green bean. And a vast collection of vintage machines and brewing equipment.
I suggest that if you are buying bike stuff from coffee, pick it up from him at work, worked a treat for me, got sweet dura ace parts and a free coffee that was delicious.
Sidenote: don’t have your girlfriend drive you there, and then tell her not to bother getting out of the car because it won’t take a second, then hang around and drink coffee, which takes more than a second
