Riding MTB with Aeons this afternoon - good technical DH stuff, then smashing a favourite trail and hearing Aeons breathing down my neck. Then logging some good PRās on a well ridden Stromlo trail. I love taking my son for a ride - he is learning so fast.
rode king lake and whittlesea today and took in some farm roads along the way too. i usually find it hard to motivate myself to keep going when iām on my own but iām glad i did it just to take in some of the views.
it was also the most climbing iāve done in a single ride (1990m)
i did Mt P - Kinglake - Mt P solo at dawn on Anzac day last year. was one of the best days iāve ever had on the bike. iām like you though, i usually get all in my own head, having mates around helps to distract you when you hit the hard spots etc.

First for the year and really agressive / brave magpie swooping me provided some small joys for everyone at the mt gravatt-capalaba / broadwater traffic lights. Ended up being pretty comical because the brave sucker was happy to follow within a meter while I was turned looking at him.

Coming through a set of downhill bermed switchbacks at the QLD XCO State champs, spotting the photographer set up on the next corner, calling out āare you readyā, hearing āyepā and pulling my best Michael Jordan tongue out impression as the flash goes off and hearing the photographer piss himself laughing.
