Beer & a shot Delores! series 2 was easily the best, though my teacher friends liked series 3 (?) or was that hamsterdam.
Anyway…I am on series 3 of the West Wing and it is pretty rad, have American Horror & Boardwalk Empire in reserves.

West Wing is solid and dense with dialogue, a Aaron Sorkin special.
Yeah I quite liked it, though I thought they kinda overdid the frontal shots of Ms (Mr?) Sevigny in full make up - like they had to keep making sure everyone knew the premise of the show.
I also heard -not sure if true- that the creator/producers initially had two shows, one about a transgender person and one about a hit-person and thought ‘fuck it, lets combine them’
The Hour…back in 30 minutes
and a little Nigelissima to be going on with
“…vegetarians, turn away now…”
for the record i liked the wire.
i hate the ridiculous fan-boy shit around it.
that’s what i was getting at.
one show i don’t get the hype for walking dead. but i only started watching the last series of that kind of half-heartedly…but still it’s been kinda stupid.
also homeland is now totally stupid. but in a good way i think.
i always get caught up in the “critical response” to shows rather than trying to watch them independently.
i think for the worse too. newsroom, homeland, breaking bad, mad men etc…it’s like you have to like them, or there’s some underlying impression that they are GOOD and so ultimately if you don’t like it it’s your fault.
drives me insane. sports are the best for escape. or ncis/l&o etc. they come with no baggage.
This is the main reason I haven’t watched The Wire/MadMen/Breaking Bad yet. My gut reaction is to go against popular opinion just cos how can something so popular actually be that good? I know it’s just me being a snob.
That said, I think the hype has died down enough that I can watch The Sopranos.
I have just got into Leverage, only to find it was cancelled after the 5th season.
The Sopranos is probably the best TV series i have watched*. Ever. It is amazing. **
I couldn’t get into Breaking Bad or Weeds but people rave about them so would like to try and watch them sometime.
The Wire, despite the hype & fanboyism, is also fantastic television. I would put it 2nd to Sopranos but on par with 6 Feet Under. I really enjoyed Mad Men but don’t think it really had the depth & character development of Sopranos/Wire/6ftU.
The West Wing I am really enjoying but not with as much fervour as shows listed above. I go for a few days without watching it and not feel like I am missing anything. My wife loved Big Love but I didn’t really get into it.
All that being said, I would much rather watch a good series at home than go to the cinema to watch a movie.
*Except for The Simpsons. Obviously.
** Jono - I have Sopranos box set if you want to borrow it. Can bring it in to work, do lunch etc.
Been watching Sherlock (BBC not US version) REALLY FUCKING ENTERTAINING
Cant stand Aaron Sorkin.
The Wire was fucking great, Like every Season for different reasons.
Watching Archer today.
You probably don’t want to watch Newsroom then, Sorkin being very chest beating American.
As for Sherlock, both BBC and US versions are cool for different reasons and there is a connection between the two.
Cumberbatch (BBC Sherlock) and Miller (US Sherlock) performed together on stage in Frankenstein. One played the Doctor, the other the monster and alternate nights they switched parts.
New season in 2 weeks. woop.
“You better call Kenny Loggins. 'Cause you’re in the danger zone.”
On that note, you should watch all of these right now:
Lolz!!!
Same. My wife also loves Bold and the Beautiful. If I’d known this before I married her, things may be different.
i watched part one of a three part doco series on india last week, it was on Wenesday night, on one of the SBS or ABC chanels.
pretty fucking good and really put shit into perspective of just how good we have it.
Yeah ive been reading about the ‘Untouchables’ recently, those in the lowest backwards castes. Weve got it good. Talk about zero hope. They reckon some castes will die out entirley due to starvation and persecution (Genocide pretty much).
Really fucked up.
Whats the name of that Doco?
Welcome to India - 9:35pm SBS. It was proceeded by this show about every day life in Venice. In short - Venice seems like a total joke unless you’re a tourist.
If it isn’t on sbs on demand, Welcome to India 2012 - Documentary (Episode 1 of 3) [HD 720p] - YouTube Welcome to india, 3 parts. Havent watched the final episode but yeah, its sweet.
