The telly thread

mate gave me seasons 1 and 2 of suits, hooked.

Burn notice or bust.

Just started season 2 of Spooks, it’s alright. The main guy Tom looks like he’d have the foulest breath, I don’t know why ladies love him.

The Bridge

Super dark, lots of twists, very good.

Also just started Season 3 of The Inbetweeners. I can only watch one episode a night as its almost too painful/awkward/hilarious.

that’s how i feel watching Breaking Bad…i’m so fearful of what’s going to happen that i don’t want to know. then it goes nothing like i thought, and i end up even more confused/scared by the end.

Bit late to the party on this thread but I love TV so here’s some of my favs:

The X Files
Suits
The Newsroom
Homeland
The IT Crowd
Party Down
Breaking Bad
Arrested Development
Generation Kill
Game Of Thrones
Twin Peaks
Community
New Girl
The Walking Dead
Dexter
Spooks
Mad Men
Hung
Criminal Minds
Boardwalk Empire
Friday Night Lights

Kinda like Strava for bikes I use Myspisodes.com for TV which is pretty useful, Gives you stats on how many episodes and how many hours (or months) you’ve spent watching TV !

+1 - I watched all 9 seasons in about a month, ntbd

Carnivale

It’s an oldie but god dam it was so good!!

Love it - Season 3 airs this or next month!

I can’t deal with uncomfortable situations, especially in sitcoms. Have you guys ever seen The Extras? I couldn’t watch more than one episode in one go.
My wife, on the other hand, seems to love uncomfortable shows. It’s odd because she’s quite conservative but finds The Inbetweeners absolutely hilarious.
Breaking Bad really got to me in that respect too. People frustrate me when they get into bad situations that are easily avoidable - a bit like Claire Danes in Homeland when she first hooks up with Brody. What an idiot.

Life: doin’ it wrong.

Been watching nothing much of note. Catch the odd episode of Silent Witness, Alan Carr:Chatty Man, and other shit over my wife’s shoulder when she watches stuff. I’ve got a whole bunch of series sitting around on USBs and hard drives that I’ve been meaning to watch for anything up to 3 or 4 years. Apparently The Wire is pretty good. Has anyone heard of Breaking Bad?

Surprised nobody has mentioned Hit and Miss which has just finished on ABC. Best series of the year.

The Wire is excellent, 6 seasons focussing different aspects of the drug trade , from the street level through to corporate level

It’s highly ranked on my list of stuff to watch. Have heard excellent reports, but am waiting for the series to finish.

Pretty sure its only five seasons… though David Simon did say they had strongly considered another series focusing on immigration but external issues prevented this.

I’d also say (and based on what I’ve read from Simon and his coworkers) that its not really about the drug trade as much as its a commentary on modern urban society. The drug trade is a thread that binds all the other storylines together.

There’s an excellent ~10,000 word piece by Simon himself where he goes into a lot of the motivations and background stories to making the series, as well as how they were very nearly cancelled a couple of times.

yeah.
there is soooooooo much faff and writing about the wire around if anyone cares to do even a half-arsed google.
the epitome of fanboyism shit.

i liked the show. but series two was weak relative to the one. and five was laughable for the most part.

apologies 5 seasons and I thoroughly enjoyed it most shows have filler seasons

TC: I felt so empty when I finished The Wire, like there was nothing to look forward to anymore. And calling any season of the wire weak? Please.
As Nikcee said it was about how the city interacts and how they all live together. A really good insight to Baltimore, maybe I’m biased as I went therein 09. I guess it could apply to many cities though.

series two of the wire was probably one of my favourites. the greeks!

i mostly watch the shit out of documentaries and bob’s burgers. ABC iview is pretty sweet.

I understand. The free to air abc season just ended and it’s clear there’s more to the season going by the ending.

now we’ve got to remember where it left off when it starts up again. Nonetheless, we both found it beautiful and were absolutely charmed/addicted. Myself a little more so as Sevigny was part of the NYC party/bar scene, used to go out with my old flat mate and she used to dig the cycling jersey’s I’d wear when going out. She’s got a lot of style, and I’ll take the compliment.
