Nursing a knee injury at the moment and planning on leaving for Melbourne to Brisbane fixed ride in a month. So i have decided to start working on this Kenevans roadie. Bought it yesterday off forum member el brado. Swapped out the drops for some nitto risers and boom!! shimano 600 friction non-indexed rough as gutz but does a treat for ye ol’ couriering in brisbane.
Built this up:
1990 Shogun Ninja 7 speed frame, converted to fixed. Everything as it was on the original bike, except:
- BB changed to one with a shorter spindle, for improved chainline.
- Seatpost replaced, since the original was a brick.
- Running the original inner chainring, but on the outside of the crank spider. (Using 3/32" chain and sprocket. Currently at 42/15 ratio.)
- Wheels handbuilt - Mavic Open Pro to Miche Primato track hubs.
- Shimano A520 pedals.
Now for a ride!
^^ nice work, ive been planning on a similar build, i like riding hoods, and hoods look dumb on a track bike me thinks =D
Cleaned cranks, chainring and replaced trusty 2yr old yaban chain with a silver daido njs
Cleaned off the left over packaging stickytape gunk from the stratos
Then dummied it up.
Interesting choice of wheels…
I like it
balllllllllllin! ^^
They may or may not see street use. Both need new tubulars and the zipp needs a repaint around the rim edge as the previous owner thought it would be a good idea to run a brake on it. But yeah, I thought you might like it
I like it, but you need to pull your stem up a little bit, otherwise it’s going to get a gouge in it (speaking from experience there).
Looks tuff though. Handsome James said the rainbow flecks makes him feels weird in the pants.
Thanks for the advice, it’s just been dropped in there for the photo but I’ll remember that when I actually put it together. Probably a fair way off completing the build, I’m broke as shit atm. As for handsome James, I’ll post some sunlight pics when it’s finished.
Replaced the Suntour XC LTD cantilever brakes on the Rocky Mountain Hammer with V brakes… such an improvement!
Soyo type grips and schwalbe tyres for the fuji
i cut the seat post, the steerer tube ( slammed the top cap ), tightened a few bits that were a little loose installed a new seat clamp and put the seat up!
gota love the fingerbang girl!
more sextralite!
get dumby hoods, they look confusing to the eye but allow that position.
took the cranks off the pub bike > transferred them to my old roadie > pulled out my dismantled cassette wheel to get rebuilt into SS > put front wheel onto roadie frame > took drops off roadie > took rizors off tarckbike and put on new ourys > swapped bars.
now to finish converting the roadie into the CX/TWBD/Climber/frankenbike that i’ve been thinking about for the last week.
this…
just need pedal straps, my black bars to turn up, and unfortunately, a brake
why do you need a brake?
personal preference. just in case.
im sure the pedestrian i skittled the other day didnt appreciate it, even though the brake didnt pull me up lol but id rather it be there just in case i almost impale some chick with my bullhorn bars again.
Great way to meet chicks…
but it’s rude to poke them without asking their name first…
You can dink em Home on bull horns too…
