Thoughts on schwinn cutter?

dont know if you guys remember me as I havent been posting in a long while but I sold the kona paddywagon to my uncle (i miss it actually lol)

And long story short i built up a few mtbs and now i only have a bmx. I love the bmx as its fun on the dirt jumps but I dont think I can get anywhere on it without getting too tired from having to stand just to pedal it. lol

Now no surprise the schwinn is getting mixed reviews from what I’ve read so I may as well ask you guys for opinions too…

thats the bike in question. From what i remember him saying he purchased it about a month ago and replaced the rear wheel to a flip flop one. Changed out pedals (I think now the chainring is removable) and a few small bits. He wants to swap it for my bmx which is a 2010 eastern sequence.

From the urbanvelo review I read the bike is best kept stock? why so? I dont plan on going all out upgrades just change a few bits probably. Like maybe the handlebars and stem. It’s mainly so I can bike with the missus again as opposed to only going to the jumps and whatnot and I’ll probably just change out the bits at a later time.

So yes, thoughts please? understandably there are other better bikes out there but I’m not in a position to spend as I’m getting married in December (lol) and I havent really found anyone else who wants to swap their bike for mine. Worst case I’m gonna try and sell the bmx first then buy another bike which I’ll have to do in two weeks as I’m leaving for overseas then. Thanks!!!

EDIT:

it appears i was mistaken. It’s a stock 2012 from what I’ve researched.

Sell the bmx, buy the Schwinn and spend the rest on a gift for your new wife.

The Schwinn is HEAVY.
I hope your legs are strong.

I saw something similar to that bike in the pic Yesterday morning in the cbd.

yeah apparently heavy as its steel. so confusing. lol might try and sell the bmx and buy a lighter one. missus already has 2 bikes i restored so no more for her lol

Yeah, it’s a boat anchor. You can do a lot better. If you aren’t fussed, go for gold.

although I will technically be coming from an all mountain/downhill bike… maybe it wont feel as heavy to me. lol I suppose for now I’ll leave it as an option. if someone else with a better bike comes along I’ll get that. but worst case I’ll probably get the schwinn first then just get a better one at a later time

just got that for free. lol suppose its better than the shwinn. now i get to have more fun and build it up

ok I have another question for you dudes, since I got the frame free, would it still be worth swapping the bmx for the schwinn and transferring parts to the pace frame? will they even fit? just thinking cause I’ll probably sell the bmx for say maybe 300-350 max but probably even less that and I dont think I’d be able to get all the parts I need for the build anyway. Then probably just sell the schwinn frame when I get back to Manila.

are the parts craptastic?

if you are gonna get the schwinn, ditch that frame. that frame is a road frame and not really suitable for sw8 fixie riding.

I’ll see how I go. might get the schwinn and sell it then build up a better one of be a rebel and convert the roadbike. lol

Those schwins were on sale for 250 clams at the local chain bike shop…keep your bmx and save for a few weeks
