I see the boys have taken the alternate route. What’s the go with that? Like an A and B line or just a fork in the road situation? Anyone know?
In Wellington the variant route takes them to one of the two ferry options to get across to the South Island. Is that what you mean?

There are two options to go from Ardmore to Miranda. One via the coast and one inland. There are riders on both.
Our boys went around via the coast.
We took the scenic B-line which was an extra 10km following the coast. Why wouldn’t ya. Had a sweet tailwind the whole way and managed to sit on about 32km/h

Settled into a bit of a rhythm of riding into the night 12/1 rather than getting up early. Seems to work for me.

Also lost my spot tracker riding to the jet boat on the whanganui river, luckily the riders behind me found it.
