Thanks, done.
cool, all sorted.
So whoās going to do the 30km for 12 hours??? :p:p:p
Awesome.
Yeah, I think Iāll pass on that 30km/h for 12 hours ting
So who from FOA is doing this? Bigadz and I confirmed and MikeD + Rhino possibly?
We should all try and roll out on the same date. Even if we donāt ride together would be sweet to grab beers etc beforehand.
Fuck, feels so weird planning this a year in advance, especially considering the Brevet was only last monthā¦
Not 100% in yet still a bit far off, but I think Iāll put my money down - well whatever I donate I can claim back on tax.
I wish I could commit / it wasnāt so strict on entry
Iām all officially entered with my carbon offset and donation paid.
Iām not fussed about my start date, but it looks like about 70% of people have put down for the 21st.
It is weird planning this far in advance, especially considering I canāt even buy the return flight yet.
Iāll be putting down the 21st - just spoke to dudes I rode the Brevet with and we all rolling out on that date it seems.
Tom,
Once youāve had a good look at the route and the sections covered youāll have to let me know your ETA for heading through Thames. Iāll try to join you there for a couple of days
Saw this and thought of the tour:
Anyone know what the go is with the Kiwi Brevet next year? I heard it was meant to be going ahead as a warm up ride to Aotearoa⦠But thereās barely been any talk about it. Iām busy at the end of February and canāt commit to doing 3000kms of racing. Would rather torture myself on the shorter brevet.
My understanding is the brevet will run every second year so next one is 2017.
There is āle petit brevetā in CHCH round November.
There is the 'me peti
theres also this:
Some of the peps I rode the KB with did the '14 edition of GSB. Said it was every bit as challenging as the KB, tougher even. But its actually achievable unlike this yearās #derpreckoning
I just bought flights for this.
I fly into Auckland at 5.15am on the 22nd Feb, then Iāll hang around the airport for the TreadRoutes bus.
I fly out of Christchurch on the afternoon of Saturday 26 March.
Hopefully I can find a bike shop open on Saturday, which might be tricky given itās Easter long weekend.
Also, any hot tips on getting from Invercargill to Christchurch?
Bus ticket for $1 perhaps?
Yeh I saw thought. I just wanted to check if anybody knew of other good options
Iām $5 busing it from Auckland to paihia then riding the rest of the way over a couple of days.
Probably ride/bus to Queenstown and fly back from there at the end.
Iām hoping to be done by the 10th or so.
Have partially booked TreadRoutes bus to start.
As for getting back home - considering riding back to Dunedin and either flying out from there or train/bus to Christchurch. Havenāt really given it much thought yet tbh.
Reason why Dunedin is cos dude Iām riding with lives thereā¦
Still need to purchase flights, smh.
E: Dunedin sounds like the right call to me. Awesome return route, can chill in Dunedin for a few days & take scenic train ride back to Christchurch.
Fly? Dunedin to CHCH doesnāt look like a nice ride. Hwy 1 is pretty awful.
Why you need a bike shop?
Iām not planning to ride it. I was thinking of bus/train/etc,
I need a bike box for the trip home, but I could also get one in Invercargill if I finish late enough that I wonāt be able to ride around near Christchurch.
Ah righto. You should be able to get a bike box in Invercargill and fly if youāre inclined to.
