I’ve been looking for a trials freewheel, something other than a white industries, and most of what I’m seeing seems to be crank mounted. Can you run these on a hub too (as the white industries ones can)?
Am I wasting my time getting anything but a white industries? It’s just for commuting on, not riding trials.
Trials cranks take a regular freewheel and run a fixed or splined cog on the rear.
All about weight distribution for these folks. And this is why most of the trials F/Ws are 18T.
I’ve got a Trialtech 16T freewheel on my converted dirt jumper I got from this guy - currently out of stock but sure to get more soon. Trialtech Sport Freewheel
if the wheels are spinning the chain is moving just as on a sw8 fi><ay, the freewheel is mounted to the cranks so the cranks can stop moving and you can backpedal but the chain will continure to be driven by the rear wheel
and if your jeans get pulled into the moving chain while coasting down a hill you’re fucked, leg gets pulled around the pedal, wheel locks up and you have to cut yourself out of the mess while in a painful position - true story.
Biketrials direct is a cool guy from Northern Beaches, get from him. Not sure about that Ti one though.
Expensive freewheel for a commuter. I had one on my commuter for a while but in the end realised it was way too nice for a commuter, so sold it to Blakey, of course.
