Trying to install a Cane Creek threadless headset with a Surly LHT fork and having some problems. The split crown race has some extra length on top that when fitted to the fork, makes it too big for the lower bearing to be seated properly. Does this mean that I have to find a crown race without the extra bit on top? Sorry for the terrible explanation so here are some pictures…
I’m guessing that what I need is one which goes straight into the bevel like this?
I don’t think the part you’ve got on there is the crown race.
That thing with the split in it goes onto the steerer to sit in the top bearing…
Ah crap, looks like you’re right. Bought the headset from the swap meet and thought that it was complete. I feel silly now…

hey man if that was the cane creek from the s/meet it definitely had this with it 100% sure… I had two and they were both complete (except star nut).
