Ultegra 6700 groupset release date?

Does anybody here work in a bike shop, or have connections to Shimano?
I would like to know when the Ultegra 6700 groupset is going to be released. I have done a quick Google search, but couldn’t find any dates.

Any thoughts would be great, cheers Horatio.

No idea of release yet or price.
Will be fitted OE to 2010 BMC.
It is a seriously UGLY group.
Will have the benefits of 7900 dura ace at a cheaper price.

Thanks for that Evan. So early next year?

I like the look of it! And a crank that has a hollowtech chainring is cool in my book
Like you say, it has a lot of the benefits of Dura Ace 7900 so that’s why I was interested.

fukn ugly is right.
the only benfit i can see is that the shifters are more comfortable

why not just stick wit Duracé 7800?

What’s with the ugly comments?! It’s no different that the current non-SL Ultegra isn’t it?

Because 6700 is newer LOL

looks pretty different.
RD looks cheap and angular.
shifters look stumpy. (but comfortable)
chainrings look kind of cheap.

dunno, i guess it doesnt look like a classy group.

7400 and 7800 – classy.

Superbe pro – classy

Santé – very classy

Record – gaudy (Italian), but still classy

new ultegra – commutery, practical and vesty

LOL

I think you just invented a new word= ‘vesty’!
Harsh though.
Apart from aesthetics though, there are actual technical improvements:
-hollowtech chainring equals stiffer crank
-shifters should be WAY better than the 6600
-6600 brakes are okay, but not great. I’ll be interested to see if these new ones are more like the 7800. IMO the 7800 brakes are still the best.

true, but wasnt 7800?

-shifters should be WAY better than the 6600

no arguement here. they look really comfortable. (reach adjustment is a good thing)

theres no difference between 6600 and 7800 except weight isnt there?

i just cant imagine the performance being much different from the last versions except it being lighter of course. i dont really care much about weight

if you are running 7800, personally i’d keep it and spend the money on wheels.

The 7800 brakes are significantly better IMO. I haven’t used the Ultegra SL type though, only the Silver ones.

Just buy a second hand bike with 7900 off someone who gave up on the ‘cafe scene’. Better frame, better group everybody wins

I had another shop tell me about sending customers to a Bike Hub store to buy an ‘Oppy’ for $4995 with 7900 dura ace, kysrium sl’s with Gp 4000 tyres. carbon bar, post and stem. Bring the whole bike in and switch the gear. palm the frameset off for whatever.

i wish i knew what an “Oppy” or “Hub shop” was

Ahhh,
An Oppy is the new Malvern star roadie.
Bike Hub is Pacific brands own chain of stores stocking Malvern star, repco, cateye etc.
It is where instead of cutting out the middle man they cut out the retailer or LBS and retail direct.
Strange how the prices don’t seem to reflect the one less link in the chain.

Interesting. This site suggests the release date is a rather soon July 2009.
Hmm, I wonder how accurate that is?
