Yes Gemm, I think you are right - rolling the tire sounds right and would explain the cannonshot noise.
I was advised by someone whose judgement I trust and who weighs in the vicinity of me that I should have been running something like 60-75psi.

Stu - I’m interested in what the rim width/profile is on your hoops. I suspect it might be what Gemm is alluding to with a combo of narrow bed/less hooking resulting in the tyre rolling off a lot more easily under the forces from fat tyres with higher side loads than would be seen on skinny road tyres.
Gemm - I’d be interested but as my visit to ADL is short, so i probably wont have enough time there to get it glued. Plus I have a ‘no roll’ guarantee on the current set I need to chase up first

We thought it was. But that was probably because we were about 3 litres deep in Polish larger by that stage.

Nikcee and I have discussed my blowout problem offline - I have arranged to get a valve tire pressure guage so at least I know what pressure I’m actually running. My rims look and feel like any of my other clincher rims but anyway I’m going to put them on the roadie for summer and run alloy rims on the CX bike in the meantime.
If anyone is interested I’ll drop a note about the different readings - my 40psi reading on my track pump might turn out to be a bit lower on the new valve guage.

Unless I’ve missed it somewhere I’m still interested in the results for round #3 of the DDCX series. Would be kinda nice to know where I finished after flying in from interstate if you know what I mean. Thanks.
By the way I loved the event and will be back next year for more.Noticing that the mud was in excellent supply at race 3 is there any plans to have a PITS at the 2012 series Euro Style? Also, quite a few of the older Gentlemen seemed to do quite well which leads to the idea of a seperate Masters Division for the future I feel. That way more people can race and you guys get to make more money and talk more CX fables over the PA system…
