I’ve got a 3020B amp and they really are pretty solid all rounders. I had the CD player as well but it packed it in a few years ago

Speaker dilemma: I just picked up these Bose 301 series ii speakers last week. They sound sweet, easy to drive and give a nice spacial stereo sound. The deflecting tweeters do a great job of filling odd shaped or difficult rooms with all over sound (as opposed to only in one direction or area). Really good bang for buck and I’d be happy to pass them on for what I paid for them as well as offer a listen/demo to anyone in Sydney. Keep in mind these were made when Bose was worth buying (not crappy like their current stuff)

Just won this NAD 3020i amp for $213 and I’ll pick it up later this week. Happy with that, I just wanna get the system hooked up. Fair price having seen a few on ebay recently, I also spoke to the seller before buying. The amp has recently been fully serviced and cleaned by a reputable hifi audio store at the sunshine coast and has warranty to go with the work which is still covered for some time.
Never drooled so much for a tuner-radio !!!

Stoked on the Amp. Should have the system up and running this coming week. I have my Rogers speakers currently out at QLD Speaker Repair, getting some work. Can’t wait to plug it all in!
Out of interest, is anyone running a standalone phono-preamp into a headphone amp?
The seller has had some of the nicest stuff I’ve ever seen. Well worth following his listings even if just for the edumacation or insight into to obscure and wonderful.
Look froward to hearing about your set up and impressions once rolling. What sort of work was needed on the Rogers? Surrounds or crossovers? Both? In any case once put right such speakers will easily punch sweet sounds for many years to come. Might be doing the same on an old set of Tannoys I scored.

Only input devices currently are two head phone to RCA plugs to connect laptop/phone/ipods.
I am so pumped to set it up. Just had a phone call from the speaker repair guy and we are good to go. Can’t pick them up til next tuesday though because i am going away this weekend. I had troubles with the Rogers I got off ebay. Very dodgy previous repair work. Tweeters were knackered. He completely took out the surrounds, cleaned up old glue resin, straightened and reglued, reconditioned the cross overs and sorted me some tweeters and new speaker cables. $250 all up and I am very happy. With all the troubles I had, I sent the Rogers seller from ebay a message explaining the situation and was refunded $100. So all up $340 for fully reconditioned Rogers LS7’s. I highly recommend Stever at QSR. He is an older english guy who is very very knowledgable and well connected in the speaker world. Actually knows the original heads of Rogers and alot about the company and speakers. When he tested the speakers today, he was stoked. He noted to me in the conversation that my speakers are sounding as good if not better then his good set of Tannoys. He was also pretty stoked with the turntable and amp I had purchased. I know I have done well for what i have spent. Like everything, do it properly the first time and you won’t have to do it over anytime soon.

Take your time next week … positioning, turntable set up and little things go a long way to getting everything right. Good for you that you have a knowledgeable and enthusiastic repair/service guy. The cost is almost nothing considering the work and their experience. Maybe post your technician’s contact info so others in Qld might be able to send more work his way.
My guy in Sydney is now retired but I’ll call him up sometime next week to see if he wants to do a little bit of work. He’s a wonderful technician in the old school mode … and German !! If not I’ll be keen if any Sydneysider’s have a reputable tech they’d recommend.
