I’d love to hear At Action Park on vinyl played through a ridiculous set up.

One day.

Semi-related, I’ve been meaning to go into the B&O store and take them up on their “play your music through our stereos” thing and bust out some Shellac or Weakling. Or maybe The Fucking Champs.

Only own them on CD, so I have no place talking here.

please film the results…

Ha ha. Or their amp just didn’t have a built in phono stage!

never enough knobs …

wow.

although not a huge fan of the eighties stuff in the middle racks ascetically, sure they prob sound fine.

some of the only lates 80’s/early nineties stuff I like the look of is the NAD stuff, something about grey on grey with little adornment works, looks like it means business, “we don’t spend no money on looks, just sound”.

I had a bit of NAD gear but I never really felt very passionate about their stuff, more like I got what I paid for. I felt very different about Japanese gear. I’m a sucker for Nakamichi tape decks and also for Sansui amps in black. Even my Marantz amp from the late 80’s really impresses me, is quite powerful, well balanced and seems so well made.

My favourite amp with a less is more ethos is the Pioneer A400. Simple, cheap, well made.

This thread prompted me to dig through my record collection whilst I’m at my parents. Might try and locate my turntable in the garage tomorrow.

Volume 11

Drooling. Lot of work modding this old Lenco, not for me but I appreciate all the detail. Should sound killer with the right tonearm/cartrdige/pre-amp.

picked up this Project table a few weeks back to play some of my punk/hardcore stuff

can anyone suggest some decent floor speakers? im new to this thing

Very nice.

What amp/sort of wattage you running? And where are you located? Lots of good used floor/larger speakers as most people are looking to go smaller.

check out some Sallies, op shops, dump shops etc, often some perfectly ok big floor speakers from the 70s/80’s.

Make sure you take the front cover off and see the rubber ‘suspension’ around the speaker itself is intact.

If you want to start with something fancier there are a myriad of brands to keep an eye out for online, Tannoy, B&W, Wharfedale . . . the list goes one

Couldn’t help myself and came home with some more B&O disguised as a plank of wood (rosewood, teak or oak … which one?) . Haven’t had a chance to hook it up yet but will report soon as to how it sounds. FM tuner, amp (22w !!!) and tape deck circa 1975-1978.

Ah cheers Mike ill have to have a look around.

The table itself has a built in amp so i can plug it straight into speakers

Do you mean line level output? And there’s an amp between the phono and the speakers right?

You sure that’s not just a phono pre-amp?

Pro-Ject Audio Systems

Its an older style debut with it built in im quite sure. It has the audio cables attached and it plays direct through my speakers.
so I think so haha im a bit new to this

if it’s fairly quiet and there’s no volume control, and the power draw of the phono is only a couple of watts I’m going with line level output.

maybe you have powered speakers?
