Why not get the Chris King SRAM stainless bearing BB? Ceramic schmeramic.

You’re overthinking it.
CX isn’t so amazingly different that you need to worry about all these details. I’ve never really used CX-specific parts, apart from tyres and maybe brake calipers. Normal road stuff does the job great.
Build a bike and get out and ride.
^truth.
Riding a bike through mud makes the shit wear out faster. Come to terms with this and you will be fine, no matter what you purchase.
i am selling one of these in the for sale section!
Didn’t you read the sign on the door buddy? No Hawkers.
As a side note, when I was a kid I thought that meant that people with Mohawks were not permitted in venues with these signs. True story.
Thanks xbbx.
And folks, thanks for playing, I am 99% sure my decisions are done, for now, re cx. Hopefully next time I post in this thread it’ll be a picture of my new new ss cx.
Should we post SMS logs in here too? For posterity?
No, I don’t want people to see how hopelessly dependant I am on you and Nik Cee. Thanks for offering though!
Bit of a thread dig guys.
If I wanted the best JIS square taper BB out there, which is weight weenie focused, the WI would be the one?
Thanks,
Not the answer you are looking for, but I had a square taper on my SS Kite and it looked awful, you could see about 10mm+ of spindle and it barely cleared the chainstay too (so it wasn’t a super long BB). Unsightly.
I switched to outboard bearings because I didn’t like the look of it (and I didn’t see the point of running 144 track cranks anyway).
WI is light but the bearings won’t stand up to muck. Get an skf.
Skf.
100g more though
WI then. Won’t last as long but.
just get a UN55, yeah the bearings will die (in like eleventy billion years rather than the 25ty billion years for the SKF, which may outlast human civilization itself)
unfortunately this is the heaviest option as your pockets will be weighed down with all the cash you didn’t spend on the SKF
