Even the new Chris King bottom bracket has the potential to ‘regrease with light oil for racing’, but I would challenge the performance increase.
At the end of the day, if you want max performance, get ceramic bearings.
yes, some of them do, along with ditching any seals and dust covers. it does make your wheels and bottom brackets roll a fraction easier, and that might just make that little bit of difference, making your flying 200 an 11.9 instead of a 12.0, which might just be the difference you need at the racetrack.
HOWEVER
velodromes are nice, clean, relatively sterile environments, with no real world stuff like rain etc, and hubs generally get cleaned and reoiled every meet at least, and often after every run on the track. if you only have oil in your bearings, your hubs will probably seize before the end of your polo game, let alone get you home through the rain.
