What? No Lance doping thread yet?

…and did anyone see this?

CAS Postpone Contador Hearing | Cyclingnews.com

Yep - it’s really disappointing. Really need a decision before the Tour.

Yeh. it’s a massive load of fucking bullshit wankstains. None of these cycling orgs have any integrity at all anymore, and it’s like they’re not even trying. Watching grand tour stages now is a guessing game as to who is on the best juice.

“I thought I did a fairly respectable time trial. It’s just a pity there’s a Martian on the race!” said Nibali, referring to Contador.

It must be hard to race clean. You’re up against it every day.

seems Armstrong has lawyered up. no surprise really.

SBS: Cycling Central : New Armstrong lawyer rips leaks in case

on the matter of contador, he’s leading the Giro yeah? so how is he doing it without doping, if everyone else is? is he one step ahead of the tests, or is it a case that he’s actually better than the field. i mean surely he’s getting tested at every opportunity. so how is he remaining competitive?

^ the rest of them have stopped doping and he’s just a better rider than them either doped or clean…

hahaha suuuure they have

Not sure if the giro is the same, but at the tour the winner of the stage, plus the overall leader and a few randoms are tested after every stage (which is why Contador was tested in the rest stage at the tour before the Tourmalet).

A lot of doping experts say that the increase in ability from doping is nowhere near what it used to be, so just because you are winning doesn’t mean you are doping. Evans and Gilbert have had outstanding seasons so far, and they are both considered by many to be as squeaky clean as they come.

ah ok, thanks for the info.

edlang said “[w]ill the USADA push to have … more attention … paid to the American grand tours?”.

There are only three grand tours, and all of them are European — the Tour de France (est. 1903), the Giro d’Italia (est. 1909), and the Vuelta a España (est. 1935).

So what are the ‘American Grand Tours’? — the Tour of California (8 stages in 8 days - est. 2006), the Tour de Georgia (6 stages in 6 days - est. 2003 - but cancelled in 2009 & 2010), the Tour of Missouri (7 stages in 7 days - est. 2007)? Any other contenders?

I realise that all great traditions have got to start somewhere, and that many have very humble beginnings. But I can’t see how those three American state stage races can possibly compare with the Grand Tours. I also can’t see what pressure USADA (the US anti-doping agency) could place on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to have any races in the USA recognised as part of the UCI World Tour. At the moment, the UCI World Tour consists of 27 events, including the Grand Tours, the Tour Down Under and two one day races in Canada. The UCI World Tour doesn’t include any races in the USA.

I’m not being critical of edlang. I’m just saying that I can’t see what USADA could do to increase the importance of the USA professional races. I also don’t see why USADA should even be interested in doing that.

Michael Ashenden | Velocity Nation - Bike racing culture, news and eventsThis is a really good interview with an Australian doping expert about the 99 tour.
Found it from a cycling central link. Pretty damning, although it does gloss over a few things

I hit the ventolin this morning at the start then 40km in.

ahhh yes. Of course. i wasn’t considering that.
