the reason ‘they are coming out with the truth’ now, and not at the time (or at all) is because they were subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury.
when you lie to the grand jury you do actual jail time, just like marion jones did.

Those that did come out and say it, i.e. Simeoni, were cast out of the peloton. Breaking the omerta was deemed much worse than actually doping. That is the problem - few are brave enough to say anything where it will effectively put you out of your line of work and doing what you love.
I think in a few years down the line, when people are recounting what they have done with their lives, I think more truth will come out. Thought it was interesting that Maradona came out and said that the Argenitinians that knocked Australia out of the World Cup qualifiers in BA were doped (over 20 years on).
Ekimov made the point that Hamilton is apparently trying to get himself a book deal. fair bit of limelight he’s maybe just “found” himself…
but yeah, who fucking knows!
U.S. Postal team members used secret cell phones not registered in their names to discuss performance-enhancing drugs, and that each drug had a different code name. (EPO, for example, was known as “Poe” or “Edgar Allen Poe”)
Pffft - Lester Freamon and Pryzbylewski would have nailed those guys ages ago.
that has to be shittiest codename for EPO
Dumb question but how did Lance not get caught if he was EPO’ing?
the general view is that the UCI was paid a lot of money in bribes to keep the results quiet (lance’s ‘donations’)
reports of labs being paid off
eyewitness reports of meetings between the UCI, labs, johan and cancer man to discuss how to deal with his positive tests
plus it is pretty obvious why the UCI wouldnt have wanted a positive test from cancer man to go public
Are performance enhancing drugs straight edge?
so long as you don’t call them drugs…
Anyone know where I can find a list of performance enhancing drugs?
Not that I’m buggin out about it, all my drugs are performance decreasing.
Same way a lot of others did - using it on off season, microdosing, etc. He always says he has been tested over 500 times. Over a 20 year career, that is about 2 days every month. When you consider that a lot of those tests would have been during the season, there is plenty of time to be on it.
Plus ignoring the issue of alleged collusion with the UCI, it is pretty well accepted that doping was ahead of testing during the relevant period.
Then when you consider that you could have a haematocrit level of 50 without any sanction, there was basically an open invitation for riders to increase their haematocrit levels by EPO use to be at the “acceptable limit”.
Do they have any of his blood frozen from back in the day?
I’d be surprised if the french government doesn’t
Prez has a gift for the paper trail…
… 41 of the 70 riders who finished in the top-10 during his seven Tour victories have subsequently tested positive.
Double-check that number, Armstrong has also claimed to be the most-tested athlete on the planet. He isn’t even the most-tested cyclist.
I don’t get what the big fuss is about. If Lance was usung then so was everyone else. Sounds like he would still be the best of an even field. It’s apart of the culture. It won’t go away.
It’s not so much about the doping in this circumstance: it’s in front of a US Grand Jury, which is looking at LA’s involvement in use and supply/trafficking of illegal drugs with US Postal Agency money, while technically on the payroll of US Post. Then there’s the whole subject of potential fraud in the livestrong organisation.
Lance aside, what affect will this have on the nationality of the UCI? Will the USADA push to have it made less Yoorpen? with more attention to be paid to the American grand tours?
